Every girl needs a tutu in her closet, amIright? Because I don’t think we ever grow out of wanting to be a princess. Recently Shabby Apple sent me a tutu and I had so. much. fun styling it.
If you’re wondering where the heck you’d wear a tutu, I feel ya. I thought the same thing. But really tutus can be worn for so many occasions, even casual! So today I’ve got 3 different ways to wear a tutu. You’re day is complete.
Isn’t it so fun? You can find the tutu here at Shabby Apple. They have a lot of other colors, so if black isn’t your thing, maybe purple is! For me personally I felt like the fluffy tutu was feminine enough and black tones that down a little bit. I’m not much of a true girly girl so this worked for me.
How to wear a tutu: Casual
Girls day out? Family Sunday drive? Afternoon shopping? This outfit works. It’s feminine, comfortable, and you won’t look like anyone else! That last one might not be a selling point for everyone but for me personally, I love it. I don’t want to have all my clothes from Target and have them be the same as everyone else. I really love wearing something that not everyone has. A tutu has got to be on that list!
It’s amazing how many ways you can wear a chambray, isn’t it? Here I think the chambray dresses down the tutu and gives it more of an opposites attract kind of feel with the chambray being a little more masculine and the skirt because obviously feminine. I had the leopard came on from before and I thought it was cute just peeking through. And can you ever go wrong with adding a little Paris to… well, anything?! I think not. The tote just works.
How to wear a tutu: semi-fancy
The lace top here brings a double dose of girly, but the wedges bring it back down a bit to balance it out. I personally love the brown and black together, it’s one of my favorite ways to wear these two colors. Whoever said they didn’t go together was way too matchy-matchy for me. Gosh, it was probably my husband, he’s as matchy as they come!
I bought the belt a while ago from Hazel & Olive boutique and I love it. It’s the perfect color of tan and I love that it’s wide with multiple straps. Unfortunately, it’s not available anymore, the one linked above is similar but in black. The wedges, although they make me something like 6’4″, are so comfortable I love wearing them. It doesn’t even feel like heels.
I feel like this look would be perfect for a baby or wedding shower. Something where you want to look nice but not too fancy. A cute little clutch would top this look off nicely!
How to wear a tutu: fancy
I love this look! It’s all around fancy when you consider the shoes and skirt together. The leopard cami is a fun, unexpected addition to a tutu. Again we have the opposites attract rule here! I think the leopard offsets the frilliness of the skirt. Not to mention I just love leopard! I paired it with a fun, bright pink and I’m all fancy and ready to go!
I would wear this tutu look out on a date, to a fancier wedding, girls night out, or even a concert or show. The options are endless and it’s so fun to have this tutu in my closet so that I can wear it when I want! It won’t be something I choose on the regular, but you better believe that I will be wearing it!
So what do you think? Would you wear a tutu? Which of the looks is your favorite? I’d love to hear what you think!
