I truly believe in investing in some key pieces that are essential to a complete wardrobe. Ballet flats are one of those items. They can be worn many ways (as I am going to show you), are nicer than just wearing flip flops and if you get a good quality pair, they are comfortable! So today I am going to show you how to style this staple with 4 ways to wear ballet flats!
4 ways to wear ballet flats
When you are shopping for ballet flats you want to look for a few key things:
- Breathable lining
- Comfortable sole
- Well-made with good quality materials
- Can go with multiple items in your closet
Ballet Flat Styling Tips
Before I show you my outfits, let’s chat a little about some tips for when you wear your ballet flats.
When wearing ballet flats with jeans, cuff the jeans a couple times to show a little skin in between the ballet flats and your jeans. It will help elongate your legs and give you a more polished look.
Show some skin
Dresses and skirts look great with ballet flats! If you’re tall you can get away with skirts that go below the knee, however if you have more of a petite frame, choose shorter skirts and dresses to help elongate the body.
Keep it Skinny
Try skinny jeans or leggings that end at ankle with a pair of ballet flats. You can wear the ballet flats and leggings with an oversized tunic. It’s always good to think about proportions. If you’ve wearing skinny on bottom, it’s okay to wear bigger on top. And vice-versa of course!
Keep it clean
When you wear flats it’s a good idea to keep the rest of your outfit lean & tailored. Straight trousers, a-line or pencil skirts and slender cropped pants. This helps lengthen your body which is important when you’re wearing flats. Now that we’ve got a few basics down, let’s do this!
How to wear ballet flats: Casually
I paired my ECCO Touch 15 Patch Ballerina flats with a pair of jeans and a casual sweater. If it’s already warming up where you are, you can obviously swap the sweater for a cute tee or blouse. The important part is to cuff the jeans, like mentioned above, to highlight the cute flats and elongate your legs.
How to wear ballet flats: With a skirt
I made this skirt and always have the hardest time pairing it with things. However it’s perfect with these flats! I love it because it takes what could be a fancier outfit and makes it a more casual, everyday outfit. Also, the ‘top’ I’m wearing with this skirt is actually the dress I wore here!
How to wear ballet flats: With leggings
What could be a better mom outfit than leggings, ballet flats, and a cute tunic or sweater? I don’t think there is anything! It’s a way to be super stylish and casual at the same time. Invest in a good pair of flats and you will not regret it!
How to wear ballet flats: With a dress
Ballet flats look best when you show some skin! So bust out those dresses and grab your flats, this is the perfect spring outfit. I paired my dress with my jean jacket for a little extra warmth since our weather hasn’t gotten the memo that it’s spring. But once it warms up, I’ll be able to leave the jacket at home and still be cute and comfortable in my ballet flats and dress.
Now a little more about the fabulous ballet flats that I’m wearing. They are the ECCO Touch 15 Patch Ballerina flats. I honestly wish you could come through the screen and try these babies on. They are beyond comfortable, extremely well-made with high-quality leather and a leather lining. They have a ECCO Comfort Fibre System™ which you can seriously feel when you walk. They are most certainly the best pair of flats I have ever owned.
I also got the beautiful ECCO Sculptured Shoulder Bag. My goodness you guys, it’s like heaven in the shape of a bag. It’s so soft, made of real leather with water repellent lining and matte, gunmetal hardware. This bag is hands down the most well-made bag I have ever owned. It’s downright gorgeous.
