I don’t know what it is, but lately I’ve been busy. Like running-around-with-my-head-cut-off busy. Two young boys in sports and a million things pulling me a million directions, my life has gotten a little hectic.

clinical strength

To be honest, I don’t prefer it. I prefer to be a little more chill, spend some quality time with family, maybe a movie day or something. But I also know this is a season in life right now and we will make it through!

This weekend is Valentine’s Day. We normally don’t celebrate this day because my husband is very anti-Valentine’s. He says “I love you every day of the year, why do I need to do something special on this day?” But this year, for whatever reason, something got into him. He has informed me that we will be going out on Friday night. When I started to get all mushy like, “Oh, babe, you’re so sweet! You’re finally doing something for me for Valentine’s Day!” He quickly informed me that it was not, in fact, a date for Valentine’s Day but just that we hadn’t gone out in a while and needed a date night. That happened to fall on Valentine’s Day weekend.

Whatever, I’ll take it.

I want to look nice. But I’m not gonna lie, Friday is a crazy day for me. I have to get to school early for something we’re doing for the teachers, drop my kids off, then get to school myself for a full day of subbing, then come home and deal with the boys’ after-school stuff, and then date night. A couple of things are going to happen and not happen. First of all, calmly getting everyone ready in the morning will not happen. A Starbucks run will happen.

A shower before date night will not happen. I’m just being realistic. Secret Clinical Strength® will happen at least twice. In the morning to be fresh during the day and then another pass before we head out for date night because a lot of stuff can happen between those two times, especially when you’re a mom of two young boys. Secret Clinical Strength® absorbs odor & releases a scent to keep me smelling clean & dry and it provides 4x stress sweat protection. FOUR TIMES. Because when you’re standing in front of 30 high schoolers for an hour and a half, you need sweat protection.

IMG_7573

This is my dream outfit. Now, since I have no idea what we’re doing, this might be wildly inappropriate. But a girl can dream, right? Either way, it’s actually rather hot here in California and I will most likely be wearing a sleeveless top or dress with a sweater. Clinical Strength actually has Adapts & Responds Technology that can sense your sweat levels throughout the day and adapt the level of protection. Seriously? How cool is that? My deodorant knows to kick it up a notch in stressful times and chill out a bit when I don’t need it as much. That’s pretty cool.

Valentine's Day Look
All in all, I’m pretty excited about my non-Valentine’s-day date with my non-romantic husband. I’m not giving him enough credit, he might not be romantic, but he’s actually pretty great. It’s been 8 & ½ years and I think I’ll keep him.

Check out Secret Clinical Strength for your Valentine’s Day weekend whether you’re having a night with the girls, a date with your man or a family night! Enjoy it while looking fly and smelling nice!

I’m sharing #SecretClinical in my life as part of a Secret Clinical Strength sponsored series for Socialstars™

I write a lot about confidence around here. I do that because no matter how many makeup products or hairstyles a girl can have, confidence is the most attractive attribute. I talked about it a little bit here.

How to BE confident when you don’t feel confident

be confident But the thing is, we don’t always feel confident. Things like zits or cold sores or scars can make us feel self-conscious about the way we look. That’s why today I’m excited to share with you some tips to help stay confident even when you don’t feel confident. Battling a cold sore can be such a bummer. Some of my closest friends are cold sore sufferers and I know the toll they take on confidence. That’s why they turn to Abreva® at the very first sign of their cold sore to heal it fast! Read below to discover simple ways you can keep your confidence high.

Confidence comes from within

This might sound all fluffy, but confidence comes from within. It comes from believing in who you are as a person. It isn’t dictated by what you look like. Confidence is knowing yourself, believing in the good and working your best to make improvements on the not-so-good. Also, confidence is not competitive. Confidence is knowing your worth, not thinking you’re better. You can know you’re pretty, but there is no need to compare to see if you’re prettier than the next girl. Because — news flash — you’re not the prettiest girl in the world. And that’s okay.

There’s beauty in imperfection

What if the world was perfect? What if no one had a flaw? What if we all walked around perfectly all the time? Now, that sounds fun in theory, but that wouldn’t be very interesting at all! Instead embrace the imperfections and have confidence in yourself at your core. Now that’s beautiful! It’s what makes the world go ’round. And that’s how we have relationships and make each other better. My husband is so opposite of me, but we refine each other and as time goes on, we make each other better. If we were perfect, there’d be none of that!

Take care of it

Some things we can’t change, but for those things that we can – do it! If you have a zit, slap some concealer on that bad boy and go about your day. Bad hair day? The messy top knot makes it look like you meant it to be that way. Cold sore? Treat it with Abreva® Cream at the first sign. With the help of Abreva®, we can handle cold sores quickly and not let them get the best of us!

You could knock out your cold sore in 2.5 days*. Only Abreva® can do it, when you treat at the first sign**. Try  Abreva® Cream during your next cold sore! Click here to learn more about  Abreva® cream

*Median healing time 4.1 days. 25% of users healed in 2.5 days.

I worked on this post with Walmart.com featuring their TRESemmé hair products, but as always, the opinions, pictures & hair are all mine! 😉

I have been loving my new hair cut. Sometimes when I see a picture of when I had super long hair, I envy my former self, but then I remember how easy my hair is to style all short like this and I feel better.

One of the ways I style it now I never did when it was long. I probably could have, it just never turned out how I wanted it. It’s how to curl your hair with a straightener. It creates these boho waves which are really fun and when you amp it up with some good hairspray they not only stay all day but you secure that messy-I-didn’t-even-try look without really trying too hard at all!

How to Curl your Hair with a Straightener

how to curl your hair with a straightener

It’s actually very simple and I’ve got to say, from personal experience, it works better on shorter hair. For boho curls on long hair I would use a clips curling iron like the one I used in this post.

I have created a step-by-step process for this style so you can get the full effect.

Before we get into that, let me talk about some important stuff – products. People are always asking me how I get my hair to look so silky, smooth and healthy. Well, a huge part of it is products! If you start with a good shampoo and conditioner that nourishes your hair and you can actually feel the difference when you use it. I have been using TRESemmé Moisture Rich Shampoo and TRESemmé Moisture Rich Conditioner and can feel the difference. I love that my hair is softer, feels great & smells good!

TRESemmé products

During the winter it is especially important to make sure your taking care of your hair this way because it’s more prone to get dried out and damaged. I would definitely suggest these products if you haven’t already tried them.

For this look I used the TRESemmé Two Extra Hold Aerosol Hair Spray and I love it! Not all hairsprays are created equal and I can say that this hairspray worked fabulously for the straightener boho curls style I wanted to create. It holds the style in place without feeling crunchy and your hair is still movable without losing the hold completely. It’s like the perfect blend, if you ask me!

Okay, on to the style!

how to curl your hair with a straightener

  • Separate your hair into sections, starting at the bottom.
  • Take a small section of hair and put it through the straightener while turning the straightener away from your face as you go.
  • You really only need one half turn of the straightener to get the curls. If that doesn’t work, try a full turn and you should be fine.
  • That’s it! Do this all over your head until it’s all curled!

A few pointers – as with any boho-styled hair, it doesn’t have to be perfect. The ends are meant to not be as curled as the rest of your hair. Also, feel free to curl your hair different ways all over your head — some curled toward your face and some back. It just gives it that beachy look. I would suggest though that the curls in the front by your face you always curl back.

Now that you have the curls all done, you still have to style it a little bit to get the look you want. Don’t touch or run your hands through the curls until they’ve cooled down, this helps the curls set and stay longer.

1using the hair spray

Run your hands through the curls once they’re cooled to break them up. Now comes the styling/adding volume. Grab your TRESemmé hair spray in one hand and in the other hand pull the curls up, separating them. Spray them in place. Remember how I said this hairspray was great for hold but wasn’t crunchy, now you can see it in action.

I sprayed the TRESemmé hair spray, lifting my curls, all over my head to create volume in this style and set the curls. Here’s the before and after:

TRESemmé hair spray

Isn’t it great? And I’ve got to say, they lasted all day! I am a big fan of this hairspray!

These curls have become a favorite style as of late because they’re easy, they stay all day, and… well, they’re fun! I know some of you have been asking how I do them, so here ya go! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments, I am also sure to respond. Also, do yourself a favor and go buy these TRESemmé products from Walmart.com, they’re fabulous and your hair with thank you for it!

I think it’s really important to have working out be a part of your weekly routine. Working out can look different for everyone, for some it might be the gym, other it might be playing a sport or even going for a run. As long as you’re being active, it doesn’t matter what you do!

So in light of being active and finding fun activities that work for you, let’s talk about some cute hairstyles that are practical for these activities! Honestly, when I go to the gym, I throw my hair up in a bun and call it a morning. But if I’m playing a volleyball tournament or running a 10k I want my hair more secure and not at all in my face. These styles are perfect for anything active and even if you have an active daughter, these will work for young girls too!

5 Hairstyles for Working out

hairstyles for working out

Messy bun and headband

messy bun for working out

This is the easiest and most practical of the bunch and quite honestly, the one I wear the most… minus the headband! Headbands can be tricky to keep on but if you have fly away hairs that are just always all over the place, a headband does the job. Secure in the back around the neck with bobby pins if you need to, otherwise, you’re good to go!

French Braided Ponytail

French braided ponytail

This one is great if you have maybe some layers in the front that you don’t want in your face. It also adds some dimension to the front. It’ll also hold in place really well which is always key when you’re being active! It’s also super simple, all you really do is French braid the top, bring the bottom up and secure it all in a ponytail. Easy peezy!

Two simple braids

two simple braids

If French braids are a little too difficult or time consuming, you can always do two simple braids on either side to keep your bangs out of your face and secured. Keep in mind that my hair is relatively short, so this would be even more perfect for those of you with medium to long hair. You simply take a chuck of hair in the bang to side area of your hair & do a simple three-strand braid all the way back. Do the same on the other side and you’re done!

Little Ponytails

hairstyles for working out

Another super simple one. Wait, they’re all super simple! That’s just my style actually. All this is are little ponytails connecting as they go down hold all your hair together. This style is great for sporting games because you don’t have to worry about a thing. It’s also great for young girls, wouldn’t that be cute? And you wouldn’t have to ask your daughter to sit there forever, wins for everyone!

Rope braid

rope braid for working out

Rope braids are perfect for working out because they’re easy to do, look cute & more intricate than they are, and they hold all your hair in place pretty perfectly. I show you in the video, but really I only pick up hair from one side and twist it over. I guess just wanted the video to see!

So here is the video. I sped it up for the most part but tried to slow it at parts that I felt were important so hopefully they are easy to see and understand. They are all pretty simple, obviously, because who spends a ton of time on their hair before they hit the gym? Like, no one, right? Please tell me no one. And yes, my hair is not perfectly clean, but it’s okay because it’s gym hair. Enjoy the video!

One of the most fun things about living in France was the food. When people ask me what I miss the most, besides the cult in general, the answer is always cheese, bread, and wine. Because… well, do I need to explain that? Mmmmm…

I learned a lot of great recipes from my French friends while I was living abroad as well. But my absolute favorites are the ones that are yummy, healthy, and easy to do. I have a particular friend who I absolutely love visiting because that was her fortée! This recipe comes from her and I’ve used it many a weeknight when dinner just came upon me too fast & I wasn’t prepared.

Quick & Healthy Weeknight Dinner

easy and healthy weeknight dinner

Don’t write it off just yet, it’s so delicious! My kids eat it, it’s inexpensive, it’s healthy, and it can be done in less than 20 minutes. Not to mention it’s got veggies & egg as a protein so it’s packed with goodness.

First of all, to make dinners like these happen, you’ve got to stock your freezer with frozen veggies. I always make sure I have these because I could create a dinner out of them like I’m showing you in this post or even just add them to help bulk up a chili or steam on the side. They’re versatile, yummy and I these C & W Vegetables are at Walmart so that makes it easy & inexpensive! My kind of ingredients!

C & W Vegetables

I’m going to break down how it’s done, which is so stinkin’ easy, and then I have a little video of me actually making it so you can see it start to finish!

easy & healthy weeknight dinner

  • Start by heating a saucepan with a little olive oil or healthy oil of your choice.
  • Open up your C & W Vegetables and toss them in the hot pan. I used two bags of their Early Harvest Petite Peas.
  • Heat the peas all the way through. It’s important that they are actually hot because they will be helping cook the eggs.
  • Create a little whole where you want to place the eggs. Crack the egg in the dent you created and cover it with peas.
  • Crack as many eggs as you have people or as many as people will eat and let them cook!
  • You can cook them as long as you want. I know my mom doesn’t like the yoke to be runny so I cooked it longer for her. But if it were for me and my dad, I would let the yoke be runny and maybe grab a piece of toast to go with it. Yuuuummmmm.

That’s it! Now, I just gotta say, it might be a combination you haven’t thought of before, but you’ve got to give it a try. I was weary at first, but it’s really so good. So make sure you add C&W Vegetables to your shopping list and don’t forget to take advantage of the $.50 off of 1 package of C&W vegetables Ibotta coupon! These are good at select Walmart stores. (While supplies last of course!)

Sooo…. The internet can be a really ugly place, can’t it?

I posted a video on Facebook the other day of some hairstyles. They were messy but I still thought they were cute and I got quite a few comments telling me how they were a “sloppy hot mess” and “WTF I wake up with better hair!”

A while back I got a comment on my YouTube channel that said:

“hi your ugly”

Just like that – bad grammar and all. Now I don’t know if that comment was really a person or what, but it made me laugh. First of all, it’s YOU’RE ugly. Second of all, even if you thought I was ugly, why do you feel the need to say it? I posted it on Facebook so that you could all have a good laugh too and everyone was so kind in offering support and encouragement.

And you guys, YOU’RE awesome. Thank you. I do want to talk a little bit about the comment though.

Putting yourself out there on social media can be hard. People have opinions and tucked safely away behind a computer screen it feels so easy to share those opinions and not have any consequences as to how they’re received. And that’s not right, people should use self control and be considerate of other people’s feelings.

But there is a flip side to that. We have become a generation of easily offended people. Different parenting styles, political views, lifestyles and we’re all offended when someone shares an opinion or how they feel.

See, the reason that comment didn’t offend me one single bit was because my worth isn’t found in other people’s comments about me. I am not ugly and I know that. I don’t need a commentator to validate my beauty or to demean me. I am okay with the way that I look and nothing anyone says — especially someone I don’t know from Adam — says will change that. And you know what, if someone truly thinks I am ugly, I am okay with that too. I am not everyone’s cup of tea, and not everyone will like me and the way I look. That’s not my goal in life. I am a daughter of the King and loved and chosen by Him first and foremost. And I’ve already got a husband who loves me so I’m not on the look out for other men or people in general to find me attractive.

It’s a sad world we live in that for one people can feel so free to share their negative strong opinions online. Because what if I was an insecure young girl? Those comments could have cut a lot deeper. You/we don’t know what’s going on behind the computer screen and negative comments could be more hurtful than we think.

Can we find a happy medium? Because while most of the negative comments were just rude, there was at least a couple that said something about not liking the styles but they said it in a nice, respectful way that I actually appreciated them. I could respond in a good way and actually have a little conversation about it. That is how it’s done!

Also, just a thought, if you’re scrolling through Facebook and there’s a video or post that you just think is stupid, I have an idea… just keep scrolling. You may think it’s ridiculous but that person might have worked hard on it and taking the time to read/watch & comment negatively is just not necessary. It’s a free platform, you have the freedom to not like what’s being put out there. I guess I just don’t understand the need to tell everyone that you don’t like it.

But I can’t control other people, I can only control myself and I want to encourage you all today as well. Let’s be okay. Let’s be secure. Let’s be confident in the way God made us. Let’s be okay with the imperfections that we can’t fix and work on the ones that we can. Let’s teach our sons and daughters to love each other and to love themselves. Let’s start a new generation of people who are confident and secure but equally loving and encouraging to others.

You are beautiful. You are enough. You are worth it.

Moms are busy, aren’t we? It’s funny how such a little person can take up so much time! And I only have two kids so I can only imagine what it’d be like with more. I do still care about myself and the way I look. I want to be presentable and not always throw my hair in a pony. Not to say they’re bad, there is a time and a place for ponytails for sure. In fact, I’m rocking one right now. Not even a cute one either, just a plain old ponytail!

So I thought I would come up with a few hairstyles us busy mommas can do on-the-go. I did all of these in less than 5 minutes, promise, they’re so easy. I also made a little video to go with it at the bottom so you can see how they’re all done. I haven’t made a video for the straightener curls yet, but I’ll do that soon and then link to it.

Also, just to note, as you can tell in the video & the pictures this is second and third day hair here ladies. A little gritty but just right for a post about mom hair, amIright?

4 simple and cute mom hairstyles

4 simple and cute mom hairstyles

So I did each of these styles consecutively in less than 15 minutes. So that means you can reasonable do each one in less than 5 minutes. That is my kind of hairstyle, right ladies? Let’s do this!

First I wanted to share what products I normally use because I get asked a lot how I get my hair so shiny or what products I use. I honestly can’t really help with the shiny part except for that I use and love my Madison Reed hair color. I find that it’s overall better for my hair and my hair feels healthier and shinier when I use it.

products I use

The first one I shared on Instagram a while back and even though I did it rather quickly I was really happy with it. It’s simple and it works great with messy, kinda dirty hair. You start with teasing the front for some volume and then add the headband. Pin back the middle and cross-cross either side of the original twist. Here is what the back looks like.

the back

Criss-Cross Ponytail

criss cross ponytail mom hairstyle

You will also see a trend here that most of these hairstyles are kind of messily put together. Which I love. Because seriously, who has time for perfection? Most certainly not me!

This ponytail starts with a basic ponytail right in the middle but with both front sections left out. Then, one section at a time, you criss-cross the pieces over the ponytail and secure them underneath. After it looks like somewhat of a braid on top of the ponytail which is really cute. Here is a picture of it done on long hair, before I cute mine!

Criss-Cross ponytail

All tucked under

tucked up mom hairstyle

I’m sure you’ve seen this one floating around the internet and it’s quite simple. Place the headband over your hair and separate out the two front pieces. Tuck the rest into the headband at the back. Then twist one of the sides over and bobby pin and then the next side over that. So simple and so cute, right?! This one is also great for hair that is not really styled and you want up but don’t want to wear it in a ponytail (again).

Simple half up hair tuck

half up mom hairstyle

So you want your hair out of your face but you don’t really want to throw it all up. This style is perfect. You slip the headband over your hair like the all tucked in hairstyle except all you do is tuck the front pieces into the headband. You can secure it with bobby pins on either side so that it doesn’t slip up and that’s it! That’s about it!

Check out the video and you’re well on your way to cute hair in no time flat! You can subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more videos like this one. Hope you like it!

A couple weeks ago I told you guys I was gonna clean out my closet. And guess what… I did it!

Yep, that’s right, I went in my closet, threw clothes around like a crazy person and puuuuuuurged. It. Felt. Great.

A lot of you seemed interested in this whole idea and some even suggested that they’d do the same, so I thought I would share this whole journey with you guys.

First let’s start by saying, I am not doing this by myself. I wish, oh how I wish, I could be this organized and focused on my own. Instead, I’d get half way through and then end up curled up in a ball in the middle of a pile of clothes chanting things like “there’s no place like home” or something like that. I just don’t have it in me.

Instead I am cleaning out my closet and starting this year new thanks to the help of Capsules by Cladwell. I am not paid to say any of this, in case you were wondering. I just really like how they lay it all out for you and kinda hold your hand and walk you through baby steps.

capsule wardrobe

Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of what my closet looked like before. Let’s just say it was crowded. In fact, wait just a second and I’ll show you the piles on the floor and you’ll see what I mean.

So Capsules walk you through the steps of cleaning out your closet. It doesn’t seem too hard, right? But honestly, it’s hard for me! I think it’s similar to the Marie Kondo method. I haven’t read that book though, just heard about it. So basically here’s how you do it.

Gather. Separate. Observe. Store.

So that’s what I did. I took all of my clothes out of my closet and threw them on the bed. I created two piles, one to keep one to throw away. Then I got to work. I had two big bags to giveaway/sell/donate and the lasting pieces got hung up. Here was my during process.

cleaning out the closet

The pile on the right is clothes I am going to get rid of. The pile on the left is clothes I am keeping. I then went through the keep pile and took all the seasonal stuff (tank tops, shorts etc.) out and put them in a bin I’ll keep in the garage. The get rid of pile I put in two big plastic bags. Then I put everything back in the closet all nicely. Everything had it’s own hanger and there was so much left over space! Check it out.

what I kept

That’s it. The clothes above are my husband’s. Now, I do have jeans with are stacked and some dresses that are hanging on the other side of the closet. But that’s about it! It’s freeing and scary at the same time. Now when I look at my closet I have to make something out of these pieces.

I love it. It’s challenging. It challenges me to work with what I have. It also challenges me to think outside of my comfort zone and make things work. It’s also great because it helps me now know what I need to add to my wardrobe so that when I do buy, I am buying with a purpose.

Capsules actually does have a section on ‘self discovery’ which is really honing in your style. Looking at the pile you kept and analyzing the pieces so that you can see what you love them and get some more pieces like them. I still haven’t worked through that section entirely, I need to start creating my style inspiration boards to get better ideas of what I love and what I want to add to my wardrobe.

So, what do you think? You guys on board? It’s a great way to start the new year! If you want to learn more about Capsules by Cladwell, check them out here! I’ll keep you posted with my progress and even things I buy. Can’t wait!

With winter in full swing here in Southern California — i.e. it’s a little windy and it *might* rain next week — my skin is feeling the effects! Specially my face. It’s dry and I’m finding even my regular moisturizing process isn’t enough. I’m very particular about how I treat my facial skin because someday I’m gonna either pay for it or reap the benefits. I’m really hoping for the latter!

I thought some of you might be struggling with some of the same things, so I thought I’d share some of my tips on how to keep your face healthy during the winter. If you have any of your own tips, I’d love to hear them! I’m always looking for better ways to take care of my skin!

Keep your Face Healthy During Winter

7 tips to keep your face healthy during winter

Eat Healthy

I know you’ve probably read like a million articles that say you need to drink more water. And it’s true that water is good for your skin. However, water should be in addition to an already healthy diet. When you are eating a mainly plant-based diet consisting of lots of dark, leafy greens, fruits and vegetables it nourishes your body from the inside out! If you need help crossing over to a good, healthy diet, check out the detox I did. It’s pretty amazing. It’s not a quick fix or lose 20 pounds in two weeks type of thing but a start to changing your lifestyle all together to help you be a healthy person all around. Worth a thought!

Exfoliate

Because our skin is so dry, the dead skin cells just kinda hang out there on our faces. Trust me, my nose right now is not a pretty site! Exfoliate by using a scrub (you can make one like this easily), facial brush like Clarisonic, or even a Personal Microdermabrasion Device. The last two can be kinda pricey, but if you think about them versus paying for a facial once a month or so, the price definitely cuts down! I probably use my Clarisonic once a week and my PMD about once a month. Enough to keep my skin fresh but not to scrub it all off.

But not that much

Exfoliating is great and you want to get the dead skin off, but you don’t want to overdo it. It can cause your skin to become even more dried out and it’ll be hard to get the moisture back in. Try to stay away form using your facial brush every day and if you have a PMD, use it once every other week at the most. Try to find that right balance for your skin!

Moisturize

I feel like this is the perfect point to come after exfoliate. Once you’ve gotten rid of that dead skin, make sure that you slather the moisturizer on. Your skin is prepped and ready to soak it all in, give it want it wants! This is a step that shouldn’t be skipped at all, especially not during winter. Here are some ways I like to make sure that my face is getting the moisture it needs:

  • Oils – I know it sounds counter-intuative, but oils are so good for your skin. Check out this chart and choose an oil with a low comedogenic rating. The higher the rating, the more likely it will be to clog pores and cause break outs.
  • Essential oils – There are quite a few essential oils that are absolutely fabulous for your skin. They help slow the process of aging and lock in the benefits of the oils. Check out my homemade face lotion for sensitive skin here, and another homemade face lotion for oily skin here. Hint: just because your skin is oily by nature, absolutely does not mean to limit the moisturizer! In fact, it could be quite the opposite – your skin may be producing oil because it doesn’t have enough moisture.
  • Serums – Serums are a great way to get moisture back into your skin. In fact, layering serums can help combat the harshness of winter, reduce signs of aging, and give you that dewy, Jennifer Lopez look. Who can say they don’t want that?? You can make your own serum easily by getting a glass bottle and mixing up some oils & essential oils. I’m working on a recipe I’ll share soon!

Humidifier

Winter takes the moisture out of the air so we have to fight to put it back. Having humidifiers around the house and especially in rooms at night while we sleep is a great way to help keep moisture in your skin. I also like to diffuse essential oils to have the house smelling nice as well!

There you have it! That is how I do my best to keep my face healthy during winter. This is our first winter in California in 6 years and my skin is definitely feeling the effects of it! It just means I need to work extra hard to keep my skin healthy, which I’m cool with. I’m working on a post that will go over my natural skin care routine which I absolutely love. I’ll keep you posted!

Share in the comments how you keep your skin healthy in the winter!

I write a lot about taking time for ourselves as women. Being a mom, wife, friend, sister can be hard sometimes & we often are the ones that get slighted! It’s important for us to take time to take care of ourselves.

A great way to do this is to go get a mani-pedi. I know I love sitting there getting taken care of. However, it can be costly to make it a regular thing and I know for me, it’s just not possible. So like a lot of things I talk about on this blog – let’s find ways to pamper ourselves at home.

I love to do my nails at home and do them every couple days. It’s fun because I can switch up the colors when I want and I don’t care as much when they chip. My feet, on the other hand, I don’t do as often. I love getting a pedicure because they can scrub off those calluses and make my feet nice and smooth. But like I mentioned, I don’t want to spend that kind of money.

Recently at Walmart I found the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™ foot file. Perfection. Now I can get rid of my calluses on my own! Anyone seen Dumb and Dumber where they have to get out the power tools when they’re doing a pedicure? Yep. That’s what we’re doing here. But hey, if it works & I can save money, I’m all for it!

PediPerfect Gadget

Of course you guys know I had to give it a try and document whether or not it works so you can know whether or not to grab one. Here is the before and after picture.

before and after

The foot on the right is the one we used the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™ on. As you can see, they were pretty cracked before and the foot on the right is after a little bit of time with the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™ and a little bit of lotion. They still need a little work done and I think after a little soak & using the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™ consistently we’d be able to have soft feet all the time!

I thought this little gadget was so cute that I had to grab one for a friend. It’s the perfect gift for a girlfriend. I thought of creating a little “Girl’s Night In” gift package complete with the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™, some nail polish, lotion and maybe even a face mask. Combine that with Netflix and you’ve got the perfect evening in!

IMG_7265

I wrapped it really fun with gold paper and polka dots which could be perfect for the holidays — gold is a great holiday color, isn’t it? — or a birthday or just a ‘you’re a great friend!’ gift! I was really happy with the way it turned out.

pedi gift

I didn’t have any festive bags or anything but I thought the fun gold paper made up for it. One lucky friend is getting a fun little present soon!

You can grab the AMOPÉ PEDI PERFECT™ at Walmart for a great holiday gift. I even have a coupon for you for $5 off the PediPerfect Holiday Bonus Pack which is exclusively at Walmart.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Amopé™. The opinions and text are all mine.
