As like probably most of you, my life has been crazy lately. I don’t even know how it happens, just somehow I end up running around crazy. It could, possibly, be that I’m not the most organized person, as much as I try to be, and then before I know it, everyday life catches up with me.

A couple weeks ago (how is it already a couple weeks ago??) Plated sent me two dinners to try out. This is not a paid post, they just asked me to write about them if I wanted to. After making the dinners & eating them, I decided that I wanted to. Let me tell you a little but about how it works.

ingredients for plated

Plated is chef-designed recipes, pre-portioned ingredients that are delivered to your home every week. You choose from original recipes that are inspired by the season, and a box will arrive containing everything you need to make said recipes in the exact portion that you need. All you have to do is then prepare dinner. No shopping or deciding or meal planning, just the cooking.

step 1

I loved the recipe card. I consider myself a decent cook, but I’m no chef and creativity isn’t a strong suit in the kitchen. But I can follow a recipe with the best of them! I just laid out the card, that had pictures and everything, and I followed it! I think I had this done in 20 minutes — 30 tops.

step 2

I cut up the ingredients to go in the meat, mixed it, formed the burgers and put them in the pan first. While they were cooking I cut up the ingredients for the salad and put them all in a bowl which was quite simple!

step 3

I mixed those around, flipped the burgers, toasted the bread — or wait, I didn’t toast it but I think I should have — and assembled dinner!

done

And guys, it was gooood. I had to share, which I wasn’t happy about, but every one that ate it agreed that it was delicious. Clearly I am no food blogger, but I can see the balsamic vinegar is on the side of the plate and I probably should have wiped it off. I was so focused on eating it, I couldn’t be bothered with a perfect photo!!

I had two meals in my box, the burgers & falafels. I preferred the burgers, but we all ate the falafels – even the kids! The boys loved the cucumber salad and I love that I didn’t have to think about dinner, it was just there.

plated - falafels

So, pros and cons to this service.

Pros:

  • The ingredients are all there, in the exact amounts you need them in. No shopping, forgetting ingredients, having to go back to the store, etc.
  • The dinners are GOOD.
  • The dinners are creative without having to be creative.
  • Someone else is doing all of the leg work.
  • It comes right to your door.
  • They were quick, easy, yummy meals.

Cons:

  • My family eats a lot.

I think that this service would be really practical for a young married couple, duel income household who are short on time and don’t have a ton of mouths to feed. I have a family of four and three of the four are boys who eat like you wouldn’t believe. I rely heavily on left overs otherwise I would spend my life in the kitchen. If they had a family version of this, I would be ALL IN.

The dinners are $12 a person, which isn’t exactly cheap, but if you’re short on time, this is definitely something to consider.

Right now they are offering a free dinner for two with your first purchase if you’re interested in trying it out!

I have written about it many times before and I’ll do it again because I believe it. I also hope to inspire others, especially if I have any young readers, to be confident in YOU. Style and fashion can be tricky things. When we are shown so many different things daily about what is cute, what is stylish, how to wear this and why you should wear that, it’s hard to navigate what works for you. It’s hard not to let the world influence you.

And quite honestly, it shouldn’t influence us. Because when we see people on TV looking flawless what we don’t see is that they’ve had a TEAM of people getting them there and a TEAM of people following them around making sure they stay looking flawless.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a team of people. I have a husband and two sons who think I look the same whether I spent an hour on my makeup or 15 minutes. I want to make sure that I feel good about me. I can’t live to impress others because their opinions waver too much. Confidence comes from within and while I will admit it takes work, it’s totally worth it!

Here are my tips on how to be confident.

confidence in yours type

Be comfortable

I can’t stress this enough. I mean, you know when you see celebrities maybe they look fabulous but I would bet that they aren’t feeling fabulous. They probably can’t breathe, their feet are killing them, and they can’t move their heads because it might mess up their hair. Believe it or not, there are ways to feel good, look good, and — wait for it — be comfortable!!

hanes bra

Recently I was sent this Hanes Get Cozy ComfortFlex Fit® Wire-Free Bra. Usually these types of things aren’t my style because let’s face it – the ladies aren’t as perky after two kids. But since slipping this beauty on during our Yosemite camping trip, I’ve been hooked! It’s comfortable, the smart sizing fabric makes it the perfect fit and has a super soft, stretchy feel.  I can wear it all day without dying to rip off my bra at the end of the day. I wore it quite a bit under a shirt that is loose and flowy so that the bra is peeking through and it’s perfect. Much better than wearing that shirt over a bra that I have to constantly check is okay and the girls aren’t peeking out! Not to mention it’s only $9.99 – so much better than those fancy, expensive bras!

Be Yourself

Don’t worry about who you see wearing what. People have different body types, different style preferences, different figures. What works for one person might not work for you. I am 6 feet tall so I can’t wear a lot of these little shift dresses that some girls can because they become either mini dresses or t-shirts! I have to wear what I want to wear that I feel comfortable in. Then my comfort will shine through as confidence!

Don’t worry about Trends

Trends come and go and it’s hard and expensive to keep up with them. For example, I remember in high school when chokers were popular – they’re back again!! If you were to purchase clothing on what trend is currently in style, that’d be an expensive habit. Instead reach for the classic pieces that you are confident will last and weave in some trendy pieces as you go. Perfect blend!

Embrace your beauty/size

If the Kardashians have offered one thing to society it would be that you don’t have to be stick skinny to be beautiful. Not sure they’ve offered much else, but hey, I’ll take it! I don’t look like what the world would tell you is beautiful. In fact, I’d wager a guess that you don’t either. And guess what? That’s okay! You shouldn’t look like that! You should look like you. So get comfortable with the body that was given to you and embrace its beauty. If you aren’t happy with certain aspects that can change (i.e. getting more fit) then work to change it! Otherwise, embrace those big hips & curves!

Own it

Once you’ve chosen clothing that is comfortable, learned to be yourself, found your style, let go of trends and embraced your beauty, now it’s time to own it. OWN IT, LADIES. Walk around like you are beautiful — because you are. Walk around like you own that dress and comfortable bra — because you do. OWN YOUR BEAUTY and people will see that in you too. Your daughters, friends, sisters will see it and learn the power of confidence too.

Just to be clear, this isn’t a comparison game. This isn’t “I look prettier than her” game because no one wins that one. This is a “I look beautiful and feel great” game and there is nothing wrong with that. Comparison is the thief of joy, so let’s drop that right away. We don’t need to be prettier than someone else to feel worth. We just need to find our own worth and own it.

And to think – this all started with a comfortable bra. 😉

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Even though school is starting soon, it doesn’t mean that the warm temperatures are coming to an end! So I thought I’d share some of my favorite lip colors that I like to wear when it’s warm.

For some reason I feel like with warm temps it warrants fun, bright colors. And during the winter I think darker, deep colors are fun. I love makeup and creating different looks. I’m no makeup artist but I think it’s a fun way to be creative. To mix things up a bit.

Summer Lip Colors

summer lip colors

Here are the colors that I chose. And I have a lot of colors! I didn’t want to show you all the bright colors I had (because it’s a lot!) so I just went with these five. What do you think? Any of them you’d try?

summer lip colors

I love MAC colors. I just do. I also like to buy lip colors in fun places. The purple one to the left I bought in the Paris airport on my way to San Fransisco. The bright pink one I bought in the London airport on my way home for a weekend. The others aren’t as interesting – Target & beauty boxes, but they’re still pretty!

I know that not everyone is used to bright lip colors, but they’re seriously so much fun. So I’m going to start with one that is fun but not nearly as bright as the others so if you’re on the fence, start with a softer bright.

coral lipstick

This coral color I picked up at Target randomly and it worked out! This is a good way to start wearing more colorful lips. You don’t have to buy expensive makeup to find quality products. Some of my favorite lip colors are Maybelline! Just pick one and go with it!

pink-purple lipstick

This is a Julep lip crayon. I pretty much love everything about Julep. Their nail polish, their makeup, I just love it all. This came in a box and I love it because it goes on really smooth and doesn’t feel heavy. The color is really vibrant and fun! Julep is definitely worth checking out for those of you who love beauty products!

pink lipstick

If you’ve been a reader of this blog for a while, you’ve probably seen me wearing this color before. Because I’ve had it for years and I absolutely love it. It’s MAC called Show Orchid but I don’t think they make it anymore. For some reason this is the epitome of a fun summer lip color!

red-orange lipstick

I love this color because it’s such a mix between orange and red. This is a butter London color which also goes on very smooth and doesn’t feel cake at all. I shared this color here. This is a pretty bold color and might take some working up to, but it’s so much fun!

Here are my tips on wearing bold lips:

  • Try out a color around the mall (before purchase) or at home (if maybe you purchased at Target or something) to see how you feel. Every time you catch yourself in the mirror you will get a little more used to it. Or not and maybe that’s not your color, but at least you’re trying!
  • You might want to try a bright color from a makeup counter first as opposed to picking it yourself. That way you have a professional opinion as to what works for your skin tone.
  • Give it a chance! Don’t just try it once and write it off. Give it a couple tries! If you need to, take baby steps. Try for an hour or two and take it off. Then a date night. Then a full day. Once you’re used to it, you’ll rock it!
  • CONFIDENCE. I can’t say that enough. If you’re walking around with bold lips like you own it, guess what — you’ll own it! Know you look good and go with it!

Just so you know, I started this way too. I started by just giving it a try. I think my first was a random red I bought at Target. I didn’t even put it on the way I put it on now. Now I have purples, pinks, red, oranges — you name it! You’ve just gotta give it a try!

What’s your favorite bold lip color? Do you wear them or are you still a little nervous about it? Give them a try!

I can’t believe it’s here, I’m kinda in denial, but school starts in about two weeks. Say what? I mean, where did the summer go? Usually I am happy for them to go back because it brings us back to a routine and I like that, but I’ve been liking our non-routine. Oh well, c’est la vie!

Today I have 3 different messy bun hairstyles that are perfect for back to school. These are perfect for moms on-the-go getting their kids up and out for school or even for young girls as well.

Back to School Hairstyles

Back to school hairstyles

I took a couple things into consideration with these styles – ease, hair out of the face, and practicality. I hope they’re useful to you!

First off, I started by curling my hair with a 22mm wand from Nume. I love Nume wands. If this seems like more work than you’d like to put in, here’s a few things to think about – the wand gets hot, so it heats the hair quickly and secondly if your hair holds curl well, you can use the curl for a few days!

Nume has a special promotion where you can get one of their wands and organ hair oil for only $39!! This goes for any of their wands which retail for $139 for the Classic and $149 for the Magic Wand. You guys — that’s unheard of! As if that wasn’t a good enough deal, they are also adding a free, full-sized bottle of argan oil and free shipping with your order. Use the code MMODE39 at check out to grab this amazing deal!

Now onto the styles!

French Braided Messy Bun

PicMonkey Collage

This one is really super simple. You part a section down the middle of your hair and French braid it all the way back. Then secure this section in a messy bun. Start from the front of the braid, toward the forehead, and pull it out until it’s a little more full. Then fix the messy bun if necessary and you’re done! The curls on the bottom half of the style just complete the look!

Half up Messy Bun

half up messy bun

It’s another easy hairstyle, but it’s bound to be a hit for everyone – it’s easy enough for moms, and messy enough for teens and pre-teens! Even though you could of course do this one straight hair, I think it’s good to add a little curl first. That way when you’re creating your messy bun, it curves nicely and there aren’t too many crazy pieces sticking out.

All you do is grab a section of hair, and create a messy bun toward the crown of your head. Pull out the top section until you have enough volume and even some down to frame your face if you’d like. Then secure the bun with bobby pins — if needed — and you’re done!

Messy Low Bun

messy low bun

This low bun is going to be perfect for when it’s too hot to handle. You can either curl your own hair or curl just the top section of your hair so it shows when you pull the hair up. Then gather all the hair at about the nape of your neck and create a messy bun. If you have shorter hair, you can curl the pieces that have fallen out and if you have longer hair, just curl it before you put it up. Once you’ve secured your bun, you can pull back the pieces in your face and pin them either to the side or in the bun if they’ll reach. That’s it!

There you have it! 3 different messy bun hairstyles that are perfect for back to school! Will you be wearing any of these? I’d love to see/hear about it! Oh and don’t forget to grab your own Nume wand for only $39 and that comes with a full-sized bottle of organ oil AND free shipping! It’s kinda hard to resist! The code is MMode39.

I was given a gift card to shop at Kohl’s for this campaign but not financially compensated. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!

It’s really hard to believe, but my kids are getting old. They’re 6 and 9 years old and becoming little men. Excuse me while I take a moment to mourn my babies!

Okay, I’m good now. As much as it’s crazy to have my babies growing up, I actually like it. I’m not much of a baby/toddler person and I love that they are becoming more independent. They can make breakfasts, lunches, clean the bathrooms, swim totally on their own, ride bikes and scooters around without me worrying, it’s really kinda nice. So the fact that they now want to be picking their own clothing is kinda cool too!

Thankfully, I don’t really have to worry about a modesty issue with boys, it’s more whether or not a think what’s on their shirts is appropriate or not. Some things I don’t think are and I veto the choice, but other than that, they choose their own things!

So for back to school, I thought I’d hit up a one-stop-shop and grab what they needed from Kohl’s. And you guys, it was a success. We were able to get school shorts & shirts, basketball shirts & shorts, and even their sandals. They also have backpacks and other items for school, so we were all set!

For my younger son we started in the Kohl’s Carter’s section. He is almost too big for these clothes, but I was able to find a couple things in his size. That’s the tough thing about a tall/big kid. He is not as old as his size and all the shirts in his sizes are more mature than I care for him to wear. Carter’s was just right and he still was happy with the choices. Here’s what we picked up in that section.

Carter's at Kohl's

Simple designs, casual shirts, pants and a pair of shorts. His brother has army pants, so he was very happy with these. This quickly became my favorite outfit.

Carter's dinosaur shirt

Look at my handsome kid! This dinosaur shirt was his favorite and of course he had to put it on right away. I loved these shorts because they are lightweight but good quality so you know that they will endure the life of a boy if you know what I mean. By the way, that kid is 6. Can you believe it?? Sheesh.

close up

I loved the detail of the dinosaur. It’s got a green-gold type of foil on it that makes it kinda shine. My boys like the color “golden” which I am aware is not actually a color, but this shirt fit perfectly into what kinds of shirts he was looking for! Oh and August 1st through August 17th you can get $10 off every $40 by using the code BTS10. So now is the time to shop!!

My older son waved goodbye to Carter’s clothes sizes a long time ago, but thankfully Kohl’s still had a ton of great selections. I loved that they had some Tony Hawk clothing choices because even though my son wouldn’t know who he was, the clothes would work for school or church and they still had a sporty feel to them. He is really into basketball right now, so this is exactly what he was looking for. He has a little but stronger of an opinion about what he wears and it starting to find his own style. This fit perfectly!

Kohl's boys clothes

I think we ended up getting him 5 pairs of shorts 5 or 6 shirts, and basketball practice jersey. I bought shirts that I felt like he could wear to church and school and some shirts that would probably only be for school. He was very happy with the selection and I was very happy to get all the school shopping out of the way!

By the way, he’s 9. Crazy.

I have got to be honest, I hadn’t been much of a Kohl’s shopper before this, but after seeing their selection and prices, I know this won’t be the last time we have a shopping spree there! It feels good to not only get the shopping done, but have the boys feel really good about what they have. Now to just make sure they keep it nice until school starts!

The post Tips to Refresh your Hair for Fall appeared first on Ma Nouvelle Mode.

Summer can take its toll on our skin & hair. So much sun, chlorine, salt water and more. I also know that I wear my hair up a lot more during the summer because it’s just too hot to deal most days, am I right? So I wanted to share some simple tips for you to get that silky smooth hair for fall!

How to revive your hair for fall

Refresh hair for fall

Use a good shampoo and conditioner

Really the base of any good style is the shampoo and conditioner. You guys might know that I do bridal hair on the side and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I come across some really nasty hair sometimes. The other day I was doing a bride and her hair was so greasy. I was thinking “my goodness, when was the last time she washed it?” Then through conversation she told me that she had washed it that morning. Say what?? Then she mentioned that she didn’t think her shampoo and conditioner was very good. I kindly suggested to switch it because what she was using clearly wasn’t working for her.

I use Garnier® Whole Blends™ Refreshing Hair Care System. I want to make sure I’m using a product that is good for my hair and helps make it feel silky smooth & healthy. It doesn’t have any parabens and is infused with green apple and green tea extracts revitalizing my hair and giving it the shine that it needs. I also love how Garnier® is committed to sustainability. With the amount of beauty products, we use daily, it’s nice to purchase from companies who purchase fairly and support local farmers. The packaging is also made from recyclable PET plastic and the product is produced in a facility that has reduced its waster and water consumption per unit by about 58% and 47% since 2005! I’m not a super “green” type person but it does make sense to do all that we can to take care of our planet and it’s encouraging to see companies embrace that as well!

Use leave in conditioner

I’m sure you’ve felt the damage all the aspects of summer can bring on your hair, but don’t worry! There really are ways to help! Try using a leave-in conditioner at least once a week for really damaged hair. Leave it in while you shave your legs or dampen your hair and leave it on for a little longer before you even get in the shower. Garnier® Whole Blends™ has deep conditioners for a lot of different hair ailments. Smoothing, nourishing, hydrating, color care (which I have and use and smells amazing), repairing and refreshing. Try one or switch them each week for different benefits. Your hair will thank you later!

Limit the heat

Now that summer is coming to an end, kids are going back to school and vacations are generally ending or over, you can start to limit the heat. It might still be hot outside (I think it is in California!) but you don’t have to always have your hair exposed. Try wearing a hat if you’re out and about and if you do lay out, try a wide-brimmed hat so that it covers your hair and your face — win-win! You want to also limit the amount of heat you use on your hair. If you are able to let your hair air dry, do that. If you can maybe sleep on it wet and style it the next day, do that. Try to limit the amount of heat you apply to your hair daily. Also, try to go longer between washes and uses of styling tools. If you’re looking to change things up and try out a new hair-style, make sure to always prime your hair before applying heat! To avoid tangles, I’ve recently been using Garnier’s new Apple & Green Tea Extracts leave-in spray. It detangles and leaves your hair feeling silky-smooth and smelling great!

Wear it down

Like I mention, I have a tendency to wear my hair up all summer. It’s hot and nobody has time to style their hair every day! Instead of throwing it up, find other ways to wear it. Just throw the bangs up out of your face. Try a French braid (or three!) to hold back the front but not have all your hair up. I also use bobby pins sometimes instead of hair tie so that it’s not as rough on my hair. Always wearing your hair up in a messy bun or ponytail can actually break & damage the hair which isn’t helpful after summer!

Get a trim

It is amazing how a little trim can freshen up your whole hairstyle! Just taking an inch or two off the bottom that is dead and scraggly can make the entire head of hair seem healthier. It can kind of seem counter intuitive, but trust me, it helps. And if your hair is severely damaged, you might just have to cut a little more off and get a fresh start. When I tried the no-poo method of hair washing it ruined my hair. It was greasy, broken and fragile. I normally have thick, healthy hair and I was worried I had ruined it forever. So I went in and chopped off quite a bit of it and thankfully it’s grown back great, just like before!

I hope these tips help you practically repair and refresh your hair for fall! You can check out all the Garnier® Whole Blends™ options here! Then come back and thank me later!

If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you must know that I love to travel. I’ll travel by myself, or with my kids, or just with my husband; I don’t care! Any way I can get out and about, I’m there. I honestly love each type of trip, but I actually think family travel is really important. It brings family together, creates memories, and forms bonds that last a lifetime. Some of my best memories were on trips with my parents and brothers, and I want that for my kids as well. Now, parenting in and of itself can be daunting, let alone taking your kids on a trip! Embassy Suites by Hilton™ has created an amazing resource for families looking to create awesome memories on vacation. On their site you can find special offers, create a personalized web page to communicate specific family details and schedules, book or upgrade rooms and use the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program! For a family reunion or summer vacation, Embassy Suites is a great fit! I have taken quite a few trips with my kids and have a few tips to share as well! Hopefully these will make your next family vacation a successful, fun time!

Tips for a Successful Family Vacation

successful family vacation

Find fun for the kids

spa time To be completely honest, family vacations might not always be the most fun for the parents. Because let’s face it, the things our kids want to do aren’t always the things we want to do! The thing about kids and memories though is that once you’re together as a family, present and enjoying the activities, the kids will remember it fondly. When we were in Barcelona we made sure to rent little motorized scooters and the boys LOVED it. Recently in San Diego we stayed in the Embassy Suites by Hilton™ San Diego Bay Downtown and we made sure to spend some good family time in the pool. My husband and I made sure to swim with them because we don’t often do that. We even took a boat to land tour which the boys thought was pretty awesome. When you plan a vacation with the kids in mind, they will be entertained and you will be happy that they are creating such fun memories!

Let go of expectations

boys time Perfect vacations don’t exist. There’s always something, especially with kids in tow. And you know what? That’s okay. I think for family vacations we need to let go of the idea that you need to create a perfect experience for your kids. Just be together and have fun! Enjoy each other’s company. If someone is in a crummy mood, just keep on having a good time and they’ll come along. tae's not happy This is my son being so annoyed that I was taking pictures. He was in the crummiest mood and not having any of it. However, the rest of us kept going and once there was some food in his belly, he came around and enjoyed the rest of the day! Tae's Happy

Find the right space

bedroom What’s great about Embassy Suites is that all rooms are a two-room suite. So much space! Who says that parents can’t enjoy themselves a little on vacation too? Embassy Suites The suite at the Embassy Suites was lovely. We all hung out together either on the bed watching movies together or on the couch in the main area, and then when it came time to go to bed, the boys slept on the pull out couch and we got the bedroom. We could hang out together, watch our own movies and have some nice, relaxing adult time. It was the perfect set up! The view from the 11th floor! The view from the 11th floor!

The hotel itself was right downtown which made it walking distance to restaurants and the pier. There was a ton of natural light coming into the building, which made it really inviting and open. We walked from the hotel to dinner and then walked down by the water. Then in the morning, breakfast was included with made-to-order options like omelets and different types of eggs. In the evening, my husband and I enjoyed the free drinks at happy hour! It really was the perfect place for our little family vacation! There was also a little coffee maker in the room and this is where I chose to have my morning coffee. It doesn’t get much better than that, does it? view balcony

Relax

relaxing by the pool It’s okay to not have every minute planned on family vacation. It’s okay to chill in the hotel and make sure you take advantage of all the amenities. It’s okay for your kids to have some down time: watch a movie, hang by the pool, and take advantage of snack time! In our case, we actually took advantage of the free cocktail hour Embassy Suites offers by setting the boys up with a movie while we enjoyed a few drinks. It was lovely. Life can get pretty hectic and busy, vacations are meant to slow down a little bit. Enjoy each other!! We travel a lot with our kids and these are the tips that I live by. Whether it’s overseas or just a couple hours down south, I think anyone can create some awesome family memories on vacation! Embassy Suites by Hilton™ has so many options across the US, you can search here for deals near you. If you’re looking for some more travel tips, you can check some out here. Otherwise, follow Embassy Suites on social media — Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, or YouTube — to check out their amazing properties!

Now a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card!! All you have to do is leave a comment with your best family travel tip! I can’t wait to sift through the comments, there’s gonna be so much wisdom in there!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Hawaiian Tropic®. The opinions and texts are all mine

A little bit ago I talked about how I tend to get a little overwhelmed with expectations. I get overwhelmed when I hear about ladies who do projects with their kids and plan fun days out and who are very purposeful and organized with activities. I think these women are incredible and there is a part of me that wishes I could get my act together enough to be one of these moms. Unfortunately, I am not, nor do I think I ever will be. So here’s what I’ve planned to do over the summer.Hawaiian Tropic Summer Yep. You saw that right. This, any variation of this. With a book or without a book. In the pool with them or on the side. With my kids screaming & doing cannon balls in the back ground, popsicles outside, BBQ scents wafting through the yard, this will be my summer. However, I am the only white person in my family. I am the only one that really sees the effects of the sun on their skin. My husband is rarely in the sun and my boys just get darker and darker but never burn. So while I occasionally put sunscreen on them, it’s not catastrophic if I do not. For me on the other hand – catastrophic.Hawaiian tropic But you know, it’s hard to find a sunscreen that you like. One that doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. One that covers enough but not too much. And definitely one that is easy to apply. No one wants to sit there sweating while they try to rub in their sun screen! And seriously, who has time for that? The kids are ready to jump in the pool the second they see it, sunscreen needs to be easy to apply! That’s why I have seriously been loving the new Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration™ Weightless Sunscreen. It goes on so smooth, doesn’t feel like you have anything on and smells delicious! I actually don’t mind putting it on at all.applying So now I can feel really good about doing nothing all summer. I will be having a good time getting all the vitamin D that I need but with all the protection I need! Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration™ Weightless Sunscreen is water resistant up to 80 minutes, so I really can just chill by the pool with no interruptions. This is definitely going in my summer beach/pool bag.sunscreen

So if you’re looking for me this summer you will find me by the pool, with my kids, smelling like I just got back from Hawaii. That’s my kind of summer. Who’s with me!

Picking a summer swimsuit is hard, isn’t it? I have the hardest time every year! I want something cute, but not too revealing. Something sexy but not really sexy. And something I can actually get int he pool with and enjoy my kids.

This year a friend from France sent me an amazing suit. They are handmade in France and they are so beautiful. For me, it’s been the perfect blend of sexy but not too revealing. I love the bottoms because they fit so perfect on my bum that nothing is falling out places that it shouldn’t be, but they don’t look like little boys underwear either if you know what I mean…

bikini

It looks darker here than the pictures below because I had just got out of the water. Honestly, it’s hard to get a body shot of yourself in a bikini without feeling really awkward about it. Or at least for me. I am no model and don’t claim to be! But I wanted you to see how well the swimsuit is made and how cute and fun the details all are!

swimsuit

The main material is regular swimsuit material and the sides is made from thread. There is a pretty stitching around the sides and I love the contrast of the orange and pink. They have a lot of beautiful colors too, I love how they are so bright and fun they are! I am all for colors any time of year, but for the summer, they just work.

swimsuit top

The strings wrap around and tie in the front. I like the little tassels in front too. But my favorite part of the suit is the bottoms.

french swimsuit

I just love the way that they’re cut and the way that they fit. I have a hard time finding bottoms, I have a bigger tushie, but the way the cut doesn’t cut into my butt, but just sits nicely. It’s had to describe, but they just fit the best I think I’ve ever had!

12322920_706916482779852_320527511611590512_o

I also love this one. I love the different design for the bottoms and the fun bandeau top. Super cute!

You can check out her styles & like her Facebook page here and check out her website here. It’s all in French, but she speaks English, so feel free to write or comment in English as well!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pure Silk Shave Cream for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Summer equals shorts, skirts, bathing suits, and basically less clothing in general. This doesn’t mean that you have to wear skimpy clothing, not at all, but it’s still hot out and you still aren’t going to want to wear jeans. It can be intimidating after hiding our legs all winter to all of a sudden bust out the shorts, so I’ve got a few pointers today to help you get the confidence you need to rock them.

Tips for Sexy Summer Legs

tips for sexy summer legs

Work out

jcp active wear I know this isn’t an over night fix, but I can’t share all my other tips without at least a nod to fitness. Because none of the other tips will mean anything if you don’t take care of yourself inside & out. Eat healthy, drink lots of water and get moving! It doesn’t have to be hard-core fitness, I’m a huge advocate of finding a way to make fitness activities work for you. I love to play volleyball, so that’s my activity of choice. Do you love pickle ball? Going for a walk or run? What about tennis? Choose something and be active, your legs will thank me later. :)

Get a tan

tan Have you ever heard the phrase “if you can’t tone it, tan it”? Well, it’s pretty accurate! While you are working on your fitness, tan those babies up! You don’t have to sit in the sun (but if you do, make sure you wear sunscreen!), try a fake tan, a spray tan or even leg makeup (sounds crazy, but works amazingly). When your legs look a little bronzed, they look longer, leaner & sexier!

Wear Heels

wear heels I think that it’s no secret that wearing heels elongates your legs and accentuates the toned muscle giving you nice, sculpted legs! I am already pretty tall, so I don’t follow this rule unless I’m with my husband who I can never be taller than (I’m 6′ and he is 6’7″) but for those average sized people, I honestly don’t know why you would wear anything else. Not just because they make your legs look great, but they’re cute and fun!

Get a nice close shave

shaving cream You can do all of the above but if you have hairy legs or even legs with a bunch of pricks and cuts, it’s not a good look. I use Pure Silk Shave Cream for not only a really close shave, but it’s moisturizing as well, so it doesn’t leave your legs dry after a shave. It prevents nicks & cuts and gives you such a nicer shave than just soap or water.

If you don’t believe me, try it yourself! For a limited time only, grab the coupon on 7/10 to get Pure Silk Shave Cream at CVS! Use $.50 off 1 coupon on RedPlum and $1.00 off 1 CVS mobile app And you’ve got yourself a $1.50 can! No CVS near you, no problem. It can also be found at Walgreens for $1.39 and use a $.50 off 1 item coupon from RepLum and you’ve got yourself a $.89 can! You’ve gotta grab these before 7/10, so if you’re wondering if I really mean it, there is no harm done is trying the product yourself for a nice, close, sexy shave for your beautiful legs this summer!

So what do you think of my list? What would you add? Are you embracing shorts season?
