I can’t believe it’s here, I’m kinda in denial, but school starts in about two weeks. Say what? I mean, where did the summer go? Usually I am happy for them to go back because it brings us back to a routine and I like that, but I’ve been liking our non-routine. Oh well, c’est la vie!
Today I have 3 different messy bun hairstyles that are perfect for back to school. These are perfect for moms on-the-go getting their kids up and out for school or even for young girls as well.
Back to School Hairstyles
I took a couple things into consideration with these styles – ease, hair out of the face, and practicality. I hope they’re useful to you!
First off, I started by curling my hair with a 22mm wand from Nume. I love Nume wands. If this seems like more work than you’d like to put in, here’s a few things to think about – the wand gets hot, so it heats the hair quickly and secondly if your hair holds curl well, you can use the curl for a few days!
Nume has a special promotion where you can get one of their wands and organ hair oil for only $39!! This goes for any of their wands which retail for $139 for the Classic and $149 for the Magic Wand. You guys — that’s unheard of! As if that wasn’t a good enough deal, they are also adding a free, full-sized bottle of argan oil and free shipping with your order. Use the code MMODE39 at check out to grab this amazing deal!
Now onto the styles!
French Braided Messy Bun
This one is really super simple. You part a section down the middle of your hair and French braid it all the way back. Then secure this section in a messy bun. Start from the front of the braid, toward the forehead, and pull it out until it’s a little more full. Then fix the messy bun if necessary and you’re done! The curls on the bottom half of the style just complete the look!
Half up Messy Bun
It’s another easy hairstyle, but it’s bound to be a hit for everyone – it’s easy enough for moms, and messy enough for teens and pre-teens! Even though you could of course do this one straight hair, I think it’s good to add a little curl first. That way when you’re creating your messy bun, it curves nicely and there aren’t too many crazy pieces sticking out.
All you do is grab a section of hair, and create a messy bun toward the crown of your head. Pull out the top section until you have enough volume and even some down to frame your face if you’d like. Then secure the bun with bobby pins — if needed — and you’re done!
Messy Low Bun
This low bun is going to be perfect for when it’s too hot to handle. You can either curl your own hair or curl just the top section of your hair so it shows when you pull the hair up. Then gather all the hair at about the nape of your neck and create a messy bun. If you have shorter hair, you can curl the pieces that have fallen out and if you have longer hair, just curl it before you put it up. Once you’ve secured your bun, you can pull back the pieces in your face and pin them either to the side or in the bun if they’ll reach. That’s it!
There you have it! 3 different messy bun hairstyles that are perfect for back to school! Will you be wearing any of these? I’d love to see/hear about it! Oh and don’t forget to grab your own Nume wand for only $39 and that comes with a full-sized bottle of organ oil AND free shipping! It’s kinda hard to resist! The code is MMode39.
