I was given a gift card to shop at Kohl’s for this campaign but not financially compensated. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
It’s really hard to believe, but my kids are getting old. They’re 6 and 9 years old and becoming little men. Excuse me while I take a moment to mourn my babies!
Okay, I’m good now. As much as it’s crazy to have my babies growing up, I actually like it. I’m not much of a baby/toddler person and I love that they are becoming more independent. They can make breakfasts, lunches, clean the bathrooms, swim totally on their own, ride bikes and scooters around without me worrying, it’s really kinda nice. So the fact that they now want to be picking their own clothing is kinda cool too!
Thankfully, I don’t really have to worry about a modesty issue with boys, it’s more whether or not a think what’s on their shirts is appropriate or not. Some things I don’t think are and I veto the choice, but other than that, they choose their own things!
So for back to school, I thought I’d hit up a one-stop-shop and grab what they needed from Kohl’s. And you guys, it was a success. We were able to get school shorts & shirts, basketball shirts & shorts, and even their sandals. They also have backpacks and other items for school, so we were all set!
For my younger son we started in the Kohl’s Carter’s section. He is almost too big for these clothes, but I was able to find a couple things in his size. That’s the tough thing about a tall/big kid. He is not as old as his size and all the shirts in his sizes are more mature than I care for him to wear. Carter’s was just right and he still was happy with the choices. Here’s what we picked up in that section.
Simple designs, casual shirts, pants and a pair of shorts. His brother has army pants, so he was very happy with these. This quickly became my favorite outfit.
Look at my handsome kid! This dinosaur shirt was his favorite and of course he had to put it on right away. I loved these shorts because they are lightweight but good quality so you know that they will endure the life of a boy if you know what I mean. By the way, that kid is 6. Can you believe it?? Sheesh.
I loved the detail of the dinosaur. It’s got a green-gold type of foil on it that makes it kinda shine. My boys like the color “golden” which I am aware is not actually a color, but this shirt fit perfectly into what kinds of shirts he was looking for! Oh and August 1st through August 17th you can get $10 off every $40 by using the code BTS10. So now is the time to shop!!
My older son waved goodbye to Carter’s clothes sizes a long time ago, but thankfully Kohl’s still had a ton of great selections. I loved that they had some Tony Hawk clothing choices because even though my son wouldn’t know who he was, the clothes would work for school or church and they still had a sporty feel to them. He is really into basketball right now, so this is exactly what he was looking for. He has a little but stronger of an opinion about what he wears and it starting to find his own style. This fit perfectly!
I think we ended up getting him 5 pairs of shorts 5 or 6 shirts, and basketball practice jersey. I bought shirts and homecoming dresses for my girls. that I felt like he could wear to church and school and some shirts that would probably only be for school. He was very happy with the selection and I was very happy to get all the school shopping out of the way!
By the way, he’s 9. Crazy.
I have got to be honest, I hadn’t been much of a Kohl’s shopper before this, but after seeing their selection and prices, I know this won’t be the last time we have a shopping spree there! It feels good to not only get the shopping done, but have the boys feel really good about what they have. Now to just make sure they keep it nice until school starts!
