I think it’s really important to have working out be a part of your weekly routine. Working out can look different for everyone, for some it might be the gym, other it might be playing a sport or even going for a run. As long as you’re being active, it doesn’t matter what you do!
So in light of being active and finding fun activities that work for you, let’s talk about some cute hairstyles that are practical for these activities! Honestly, when I go to the gym, I throw my hair up in a bun and call it a morning. But if I’m playing a volleyball tournament or running a 10k I want my hair more secure and not at all in my face. These styles are perfect for anything active and even if you have an active daughter, these will work for young girls too!
5 Hairstyles for Working out
Messy bun and headband
This is the easiest and most practical of the bunch and quite honestly, the one I wear the most… minus the headband! Headbands can be tricky to keep on but if you have fly away hairs that are just always all over the place, a headband does the job. Secure in the back around the neck with bobby pins if you need to, otherwise, you’re good to go!
French Braided Ponytail
This one is great if you have maybe some layers in the front that you don’t want in your face. It also adds some dimension to the front. It’ll also hold in place really well which is always key when you’re being active! It’s also super simple, all you really do is French braid the top, bring the bottom up and secure it all in a ponytail. Easy peezy!
Two simple braids
If French braids are a little too difficult or time consuming, you can always do two simple braids on either side to keep your bangs out of your face and secured. Keep in mind that my hair is relatively short, so this would be even more perfect for those of you with medium to long hair. You simply take a chuck of hair in the bang to side area of your hair & do a simple three-strand braid all the way back. Do the same on the other side and you’re done!
Another super simple one. Wait, they’re all super simple! That’s just my style actually. All this is are little ponytails connecting as they go down hold all your hair together. This style is great for sporting games because you don’t have to worry about a thing. It’s also great for young girls, wouldn’t that be cute? And you wouldn’t have to ask your daughter to sit there forever, wins for everyone!
Rope braids are perfect for working out because they’re easy to do, look cute & more intricate than they are, and they hold all your hair in place pretty perfectly. I show you in the video, but really I only pick up hair from one side and twist it over. I guess just wanted the video to see!
So here is the video. I sped it up for the most part but tried to slow it at parts that I felt were important so hopefully they are easy to see and understand. They are all pretty simple, obviously, because who spends a ton of time on their hair before they hit the gym? Like, no one, right? Please tell me no one. And yes, my hair is not perfectly clean, but it’s okay because it’s gym hair. Enjoy the video!
