Tips for Whiter Teeth

I received free product from Truly Radiant to review.

I have been becoming aware that I need to pay more attention to my teeth. I used to drink a lot more coffee than I do now, so that didn’t help, and I’m not known to turn down a glass of wine. But you know what? Life is too short to say no to little things like that all for a brighter smile. So I decided to allow myself some indulgences every so often, and in return I just have to pay better attention to my dental hygiene. I did some researching for tips for whiter teeth and I thought I would share what I found! Some of the tips are actually specifically for your teeth and some are for the appearance of whiteness. Of course, the taking-care-of-your-mouth part is more important but when coupled with creating the appearance of white teeth, you’re golden!

Tips for Whiter Teeth

tips for whiter teeth

Blue-undertone lipstick

Ever noticed how wearing a yellow shirt can kinda make your face look a tint of yellow too? It’s the same idea for your teeth. If you’re wearing a lipstick with a yellow undertone this does not help you in the whiter teeth department! Try colors with a berry base to really brighten up your smile. Whether it’s red, plum or pink, opting for the blue undertone will brighten up your teeth immediately!

Bronzer or tan skin has the same effect. It’s the contrast of your skin against the teeth. If you’re pale, there’s not much contrast and it doesn’t make your teeth stand out at all. If your skin tone is already tan, you’re a step closer! If not, grab your favorite bronzer and apply in the shape of a ‘3’ starting at your forehead, just below your cheekbones, and then jaw line. This will not only give you some color but make your smile pop!

Fruits and Veggies

There are so many reasons why eating your fruits and veggies is a good idea — who knew that teeth whitening was one of them?! When you want a snack, reach for some strawberries which have vitamin C (helps clear away plaque) and they’re a natural astringent helping remove stains! Yummy and beneficial, yes please! You can also try apples and celery for the same effect. Good for your health and good for teeth whitening, sounds like a double win to me!

Now, this might not always be practical and most certainly not always in public, but try drinking those colored drinks through a straw! This way it passes right by your teeth and straight to your tummy, where you want it anyway. If you can’t bear to drink your coffee through a straw, then do like the French do and just drink it quickly! This is not a favorite of mine since I like to take it slow and enjoy it, but if you’re really worried about stains, try it! You might want to stick to drinking wine through a straw at home because you might get some funny looks when you’re out!

truly radiant for whiter teeth Probably the most important on this list is how you care for your teeth! You can try all the beauty tips you want, but if you’re not using a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash that will help you fight stains then you’re fighting an uphill battle. Recently I have been using the ARM &  HAMMER™ Truly Radiant™ line. This line comes with the Truly Radiant™ Manual Toothbrush — the only one of its kind — with a rotating head, elongated bristles that get deep in-between teeth to help blast away plaque. I love this because it works fantastically, isn’t too hard on my gums, and you get the effect of an electronic toothbrush without the hassle of having to change batteries and all that. Not to mention the price difference! truly radiant rotating toothbrush

The toothpaste has a fresh, minty flavor, which is a must-have in toothpaste for me. It does more than just whiten teeth, it goes beyond to strengthen, clean and repair tooth enamel. It is clinically proven to whiten your smile in just 5 days!* (*Data on file.) Have an event this weekend? Slap on that berry lipstick and brush all week with ARM & HAMMER™ Truly Radiant™ Rejuvenating Toothpaste and you will be good to go!

Probably my favorite product out of the three I tried would be the Whitening & Strengthening Fluoride Rinse. I’m going to be honest and say that before this I didn’t use mouthwash. I just couldn’t find one that wasn’t so strong and didn’t make me want to rinse again right after using it. So when I saw this product I was nervous to try it out, assuming it would be the same. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was not! It rinses your mouth and leaves you feeling fresh without the overpowering feeling after. Then I learned that it’s a peroxide-free formulation so it’s designed to whiten & freshen your mouth without irritation. And let me tell you, it worked! It also has stain defense technology which helps stop stains before they start. This should be number one on our list, shouldn’t it?

I tried some of my tips here for a whiter mouth to share with you all. What do you think? I used the ARM &  HAMMER™ Truly Radiant™ products (and will continue to do so!) plus some blue-toned lipstick & bronzer. The other things I do normally, except probably the straw point. I don’t drink my wine through a straw… 🙂 before and after with truly radiant

Now I know you want to try these all out and I’ve gotcha covered! Here is a coupon for $1.00 off the toothbrush, here is a coupon for $.50 off Truly Radiant toothpaste, and here is a coupon for $1.00 off the rinse — BAM! You’re welcome. All of these products are available at drugstores nationwide so there’s really no excuse to not check them out.

You can connect with Arm & Hammer on Facebook here for product information and even chances to win some pretty cool stuff!

Fluoride is no good for you and your family. It causes way too many health issues, including destruction of your thyroid. You may want to reconsider all the products you use and start reading ingredients. This stuff adds up in the system and before you know it, you can have autoimmune disease or something even worse.

I was really surprised when you mentioned how using a straw can help me have whiter teeth. Now that you mention it, I can see how using a straw can help prevent stains since it transports your drink into your mouth and down your throat. I should try that from now on. Whenever I drink coffee, I always take it cold before heading out the door, so drinking it from a straw seems like my best option so that I can still get my caffeine kick before I get to work.

While we can’t afford to have mine whitening, I at least thought I could look up ways to do things on my own to help make my teeth whiter. To have a healthy & happy smile, one must have whiter teeth. The tips mentioned in this article are really effective, but I think getting the help of your dentist is more effective for you.

  108. Elden Gatley February 29, 2016 at 8:03 am #

I agree that you should use a straw when drinking anything but water. I once thought to do this but never ended up making it a habit. I do have the habit of rinsing my mouth out with water after I eat, but I’m sure my teeth would probably be even whiter if I would also use a straw when I drink juice.

  109. Dental Emergency Care London March 15, 2016 at 11:55 pm #

Make use of a tongue scraper to get rid of tongue plaque and improve your breath. One important cause of bad breath is the accumulation of bacteria to the tongue, which a day-to-day tongue scraping can help remove. Utilizing a tongue scraper is more efficient than brushing your tongue having a toothbrush.

For me, having white teeth give me confidence. I’m always looking for ways to keep my teeth white. I like your idea to use straws when drinking things. It’s true that colored drinks stain your teeth. With a straw, the drink doesn’t have to touch your teeth.

  111. Faith May 27, 2016 at 6:51 am #

Using a drinking straw for teeth staining drinks is a good idea. Also, with the rise in popularity of juicing, drinking fresh juices through a straw also helps to reduce the amount of of sugar contained therein from swishing around the mouth.

  112. Charles Stone June 3, 2016 at 2:39 am #

I really didn’t knew or never heard of that blue undertone lipstick can give your teeth that sparkling effect. That’s awesome fact you have shared (at least for ME).
I too agree that fruits not only clean up your mouth and whiten your teeth as well. One should always include strawberries, raisins and apples in their diet.

Teeth whitening kits of popular brands can solve teeth whitening problem. They are safe to use.

  113. Ajit Das June 4, 2016 at 2:10 am #

For whitening your teeth, you have to brush your teeth must. Besides you have to floss your teeth daily for removing food plaques. Because it prevents all kinds of periodontal disease.
