I have seen this hairstyle floating around for a while and I thought it looked kinda interesting! It might be a little too ‘hippie’ for some, but it’s really just a cute braid that keeps your bangs out of your face. And for me, that’s a win!
I’m calling this a Dutch Hippie Part braid. Because you, obviously, braid the part! It’s super easy, I imagine you can do it on most lengths of hair and you can put the part braid wherever you want! I put mine straight down the middle, but it could be kinda fun a little off to the side.
It’s very, very easy. If you can Dutch braid, you can do this hairstyle. You don’t really have to curl it or anything because I think the ‘hippieness’ (if that’s a word?) goes well with messy, undone hair. And really, who doesn’t like to rock messy? I’m sure some people, but not this gal! I’m all about messy hair don’t care.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Bobby pins
- Small elastics
- Teaser comb or wide tooth comb
That’s it! It’s so simple and really I don’t even think you need bobby pins and small elastics, one or the other would be fine.
You just make a part starting at the back and bring all that hair forward. Dutch braid the parted section you have all the way to your forehead. Then you will separate the three strands into two and continue braiding forward. You can add a tiny bit of hair at the front to hold it in place, but I don’t think I did here, I just continued the braid.

Now I know this style is not everyone’s jam, I feel ya. But I like to get creative and try new things so I thought you might like it too! This week I’m in Yosemite with my family staying off the computer and enjoying my kids. It’s my favorite vacation each year! You can follow me on Instagram for some adventure and some fun camping hairstyles!
I might remix this one and put the rest of the hair in a low messy bun, that’d be cute! And it would keep my hair out of my face & off my neck. #campinghairwin
