Let’s Weigh What Matters

I am passionate about helping women look and feel great about themselves. I think that clothes, makeup, and hair are a big part of that. However, I do not think that appearance is everything. I do not think that we should place our worth in the way we dress, the clothes we wear, or whatever hair & makeup we have going on for the day.

Ladies, we are so much more than that. We are running a business, taking care of house and home, being wives and moms, sisters and friends. We’re cooking dinner, managing the budget, all the while making everyone in the house feel loved. We’re pretty stinkin’ awesome, aren’t we?

That’s why appearance isn’t everything. That’s why the little number on the scale isn’t the end-all. Yes, I do believe it’s important to live a healthy lifestyle, but if that number isn’t exactly where you want it, it’s okay. You’re worth more than that.

For me, I am happy to have turned my blog into an income that helps our family and that it’s something I still love to do. I tend to focus on the negatives: things I haven’t done yet, goals left untouched. But the reality is, I need to think about the positives. What have I done? I have helped support my family for 2 1/2 years now! I made something from nothing while living in a foreign country. I personally have grown so much while doing that too – going from frazzled mom who doesn’t take care of herself to feeling good about being put together.  I can be proud of that, can’t I? And you know what, you can too! Feel free to feel proud of yourself and your accomplishments. I give you permission.

lean cuisine

I am so honored and excited to have been chosen as a brand ambassador for Lean Cuisine. I’ll be working with them all summer to share with you guys some really awesome changes they have going on with their brand. They are completely overhauling it! They are reintroducing themselves as a brand focused on modern eating. New bold, ethnic flavors, new attributes, new packaging — which I’ll write more about later — as well as a new campaign, which I’m here to tell you about!

Mirroring what I was talking about before, Lean Cuisine’s new campaign is called Feed Your Phenomenal™. They want to feed the greatness in every woman, which is so much more than any number or any dress size. To drive this point home, you guys, you have to watch this short video #WeighThis. I was almost in tears — it’s beautiful, these women and what they’ve accomplished. I love it!

I wish people would weigh on me how hard it was to raise my son and daughter in my own after their Father died. I did a great job and they are both in college, and very good kids. I made mistakes, but I persevered and did it!

I wish I would be weighed by the wife and mother I am. Having been raised by parents who were each married 3 times, I am really proud of the fact that I’ve been married for 17 years to the same man, and we’re expecting our 4th child together.

I should be weighed on what I have accomplished in my life. I graduated with a doctorate degree and a successful high school athlete. I look young for my age and I wish people would weigh me based on my intelligence, kindness, innocence, work ethic and compassion. I may be small and have the body of a 12 year old, but I wish people would look past my weight and size and judge me on the above qualities. I am more than my body.

  36. Erika August 3, 2015 at 11:12 am #

I wish they would weigh me on what they don’t see- like staying in a marriage when most people would have left over what has happened in it, or the work of getting my associate degree with two little kids at home, or getting up every day when I’m especially depressed. A heavy answer, but that’s what I wish they could see.
