French Pharmacy Products You’ll Love

French pharmacy products are all the rave, aren’t they? As they should be, it’s so much fun (and a tad overwhelming!) shopping in a French pharmacy. They have everything from baby formula to hair care and it’s like candy land for beauty aficionados! However, as with most things in life, I didn’t fully appreciate it until it’s gone and now that we’re not living in France anymore, I don’t have these products at my fingertips. Bummer. Luckily for you and me, most of these products can now be either found stateside or ordered off the all-mighty Amazon!

French Pharmacy Products and where to find them in America

So today I thought it would be fun to not only share what French pharmacy products I love but where to find them in the States. If I can’t find the exact product, I will show you where to find dupes that work just as well. We Americans have our beauty secrets too, right ladies? I thought so. Let’s do this.

Green Clay – Argile Verte

French pharmacy products - green clay

This green clay is versatile and so fun to play around with. You can do anything from put it in your bath, mix it up for a facial or even a hair mask. Shailene Woodley even drinks the stuff! I have not yet been that brave (and don’t think I will be) but you definitely have options when it comes to this beauty staple. I mixed it with floral water the other day for a face mask before bed.  The clay is great for pulling out the impurities in our skin and tightening pores. You can also mix it with some oil and honey for a hydrating hair mask!

So where do you buy the American version of this French pharmacy staple? You can find French Green Clay on Amazon for just $16 or over at Mountain Rose Herbs for $11. These are both great options and you don’t have to spring for a plane ticket to France! Although, let’s be honest, that’s a great option too!

Avène Thermal Water Spray

French Pharmacy products - Avene thermal water spray

They have multiple brands that are all the same idea, but thermal spring water spring is a great buy. I just saw that you can actually buy this particular brand from! This product is great for dry or sensitive skin and is especially useful in the hot summer months. Spritz it on your face before moisturizer to balance your pH level and help your products last longer or spray it all over after a day in the sun. It’s a lightweight refreshing spray that you can get a lot of use out of!

Now, like I mentioned, you can buy Avène at but there are other brands as well. La Roche-Posay can be purchased at ULTA and Vichy Eau Thermale Thermal Spa Water can be purchased on Amazon. Take your pick!

French pharmacy products -Bioderma

I love, love, love this stuff. It’s the best. This micelle solution can wipe off makeup in just one swipe all the while not upsetting sensitive skin types. It’s fragrance-free, soothes irritated skin and doesn’t have to be rinsed off. I bought this regularly while in France and the only unfortunate thing is that here it costs quite a bit more. You can find it on Amazon or on Beautylish. If you don’t have this one, it’s a great product to add to your beauty repertoire!

Nuxe Rêve de Miel

French pharmacy products - rêve de miel

This is a lip balm that is out of this world. The name translates to “honey dream” and that’s exactly what it is – a dream! I saw it while I was in France as I was loading up on my French pharmacy goodies and I thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a try. And oh my goodness, I’m so glad I did! It goes on nice and thick but isn’t sticky. It lasts a long time, even through eating and drinking. It hydrates your lips and they feel great. Not to mention it tastes wonderful! Nuxe is now in the States too, so you can just grab this fabulous product online! The unfortunate thing is that it’s a heck of a lot more expensive. I think I paid 9 euros (around $10) for it and it’s going for a whopping $19 online. It’s actually going for the same on Amazon as well. I guess we can get French beauty products, it’s just gonna cost us. I’m thinking that plane ticket is looking better and better!

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Chlorine Dry Shampoo

You guys know I love dry shampoo. I don’t wash my hair nearly as much as ‘normal’ suggests I should so dry shampoo is a must for me. I like this Klorane brand because of how my hair feels after I use it. The regular dry shampoo that I use – Big Sexy Hair – is great and volumizing, but it does leave a residue. This dry shampoo works and actually leaves your hair soft! How do the French do it??

It can be found on Amazon but also at, Sephora and Dermstore. Even Birchbox has carried it! I still do love and use my Big Sexy Hair, but this French beauty staple is now in the rotation!

I discovered this French pharmacy product a while ago before I even knew French pharmacies were something to write home about. I found it at The Makeup Show in LA where all the professional artists were raving about it. Turns out it’s a great primer, moisturizer, and makeup remover! It claims to restore our natural glow and give a boost to tired, dehydrated skin. Um… YES PLEASE. I admit I haven’t used this a lot lately, but when I’m done writing this post, I’m gonna bust it out. This tired skin needs a boost!

As you might have guessed, Embryolisse is widely available in the States now! You can find it at Sephora, on Amazon, Dermstore or even on their own site.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

This baby is a true triple threat. It is “a unique combination of 30 percent precious plant oils and vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften your face, body and hair.” Once again, yes please. One product (albeit not a cheap one) can be used a multitude of ways that everyone raves about? Sounds good to me. I must admit, I haven’t tried this one yet, but I just saw that it is now available at Target. Yep, you read that right, good ‘ole Tarjey. Somehow that takes some of the French charm out of it, but hey, at least it’s readily available. It’s also available on Amazon (because what isn’t available on Amazon?), Dermstore, and even Walgreens. So I guess that plane ticket isn’t needed after all.

It’s funny how somehow other countries ‘beauty secrets’ or products or whatever it is becomes a novelty to us. But you know what, it’s the same for them. Some things Americans do others dream about, so really it’s all relative! These are the French pharmacy products that I have tried and love (with the exception of the Huile Prodigieuse which I intend to try soon!) so I wanted to share them with you. Maybe you’ll find one you can’t live without as well! Either way, I hope this was at least a fun post to read!

Have a great day and happy shopping! 🙂

I haven’t tried any of these products. They all seem interesting though. I think I’ll try Bioderm and the Lip Balm. I need them both, actually.
