28 Days to a Healthier You

When I think about why I write this blog the main, number one reason is to encourage women. I have a passion for helping women feel great about themselves, be confident and look great too. I don’t think it’s vain to take good care of yourself and feel great about the way you look. I think it carries over in so many aspects of our lives as well.

However, such a huge aspect of being confident and feeling great is health. If you are tired all the time, feel sick often, or have some extra weight to lose, it’s hard to feel great with new hair, makeup, and clothes. It’s something that I’ve wanted to touch on here for a while – living a healthier life. Eating healthy foods and becoming more active are huge factors in the way we feel about ourselves.

Back in June of last year I did an Arbonne 28 day detox. I didn’t do it to lose weight. I did it because I didn’t feel great. I was tired and I knew I wasn’t eating as healthy as I could be. I don’t eat out that much, but when I am not careful, I can find myself snacking too often and drinking too many Diet Cokes.

I lost 4 or 6 pounds on the detox. I know that’s not a ton, but the best thing I gained from the detox was that for one, I felt great. My body felt lighter, cleaner and I had more energy. Second of all, one of the best things that happened, was that I didn’t want the junk!! I didn’t crave my Diet Coke or cookies or even sweet snacks after dinner!! That was a huge feat for me. Third of all I saw a lot of other benefits like my skin cleared up, I wasn’t as tired and I actually enjoyed eating healthy.

Now, it’s been a while since the detox and slowly I’ve gotten back into some not-so-great habits. I still don’t drink Diet Coke and I heavily limit sugar in our house, but I snack way too much and I don’t always choose healthy meals. It’s time to do it again.

I am starting the detox on May 4th and I want you to join. Doing the detox or even just changing your eating habits is so much easier when you have a team around you. So grab your husbands, grab your friends, let’s do this.

Here is what this detox is NOT:

  • A quick fix – this is a way to kickstart a healthy lifestyle. Most of the people who do this program continue long after the program is done, often losing more weight and feeling even better in the months following the detox. It’s a lifestyle change, not a fad diet.
  • A diet – Like I just said, this is not a diet!! This is a lifestyle change. We have to retrain ourselves to reach for healthy snacks, fruits and vegetables, and pay attention to what we eat. This detox is a starting point for a new lifestyle.
  • A weight-loss program – This is a jump start to a healthier, cleaner way of living by eliminating high allergenic foods from your diet for a certain amount of time. This allows your body to rid itself of the toxins from foods/drinks we consume (i.e. preservatives, processed foods, GMOs, etc). It brings your body down from an acidic state to an alkaline state. You could lose weight in the process if there is weight to be lost, but the program is designed to re-teach the way we eat & the way we think about food.

So who should detox then? Short answer: EVERYONE!     It sound like a great programme! I can’t do something like this right now but its something I’d definitely consider in the future. 🙂
