I’m supa excited about today’s post. It is JAM-PACKED ladies and gents. First I have an outfit that it perfect for the holidays. Then there’s a makeup tutorial that shimmers and then there’s even a holiday hairstyle tutorial! Gosh, I really outdid myself, didn’t I? 😉
I’m teaming up with Molly from Still Being Molly for all this jazz and I truly hope you enjoy it! Let’s get to it!
The other day this beautiful poncho arrived in the mail. I was smitten on the website when I ordered it and I was smitten again when I put it on. It’s just perfection. It’s soft and cozy, over-sized and flowy, and still chic and stylish. It’s a win in general, but it’s also perfect for the holidays.
It’s perfect over your little black dress for work or family get togethers. I wore my Zara sweater dress and brown Clark booties and a necklace from Stitch Fix. I also rocked my wooden watch. Sounds a little funky, but check out the choices they have! I personally love mine. I wore this to my husband’s basketball game the other night which tends to be the only time I get to actually dress up throughout the week. So I usually take advantage of it!
Like I said, there’s a holiday hairstyle coming your way too! What do you think of this knotted half up style? The full tutorial over at Still Being Molly today! I kept it simple and I know it will work on multiple hair types as well. It also it great because you fix the top and then curl the bottom that’s left out and it saves you a ton of time. Here’s a sneak peak.
Now, I promised you a makeup tutorial as well! I told you this post was jam-packed today. Molly offered to come on over and share a beautiful makeup tutorial with us. It’s a beautiful gold shimmer with a winged liner. I love it. I’m actually gonna have to get me some of the eye liner she used, it looks fantastic!
I met Molly on my recent trip back to San Francisco to hang out with Stitch Fix. She is just lovely. So sweet and kind and nurturing, not to mention down right hilarious. I knew I’d have to keep in touch with her and I know you guys will love her as well! So without further adieu, here’s Molly!
Hey Ma Nouvelle Mode readers! I’m Molly from still being molly and I am so excited to be collaborating with Natalia today! After meeting her in San Francisco, I immediately knew that this girl and I were like long lost sisters or something… she is amazing! So, I’m SO SO SO happy to be joining up with her today to give y’all some holiday party beauty and style inspiration.
I wanted to create a holiday party makeup look that’s easy to do, but also has that romantic feel that comes with this time of year!
This is the finished look… keep reading to see how it’s done. 🙂
Start by priming your eyelids with an eyelid primer. I used e.l.f’s eyelid primer in sheer – super cheap, but works SO well! This just helps the colors to last all day and prevents creasing.
Next, with a clean shader brush, I used MAC’s Woodwinked and placed that all over the lid. Don’t worry if it gets all over the place, we’ll go in and blend it later. Any shimmery gold color will do!
Then, I took MAC’s Cranberry and applied that to the outer corner of my eyes in a “V” shape. (Any cranberry / maroon shade will do!) Then take MAC’s Retro Speck and apply that to the browbone and inner corner of the eyes. (Any light or pale white color will do!) I love this color because it’s subtle but also brings that perfect amount of light to the eyes. Then, take any light matte brown color (I used one that’s in my NAKED2 palette) and put that in the crease. This acts as the transition shade and brings definition to the eye. Then, with a clean brush, just blend all the colors together so they look seamless.
Now is time for some drama! I took Rimmel London’s Scandaleyes waterproof kohl liner and lined my water line. This is seriously the BEST waterproof eyeliner ever… better than ANY high end eyeliner I’ve used. It doesn’t budge! Then, I took my Kat Von D liquid felt tip liner and I lined my upper eyelid and did a winged liner look. I have been practicing and practicing my winged liner because I love the way it looks, but it’s so hard to do! I’ve just come to the conclusion that you’re never going to get both eyes to look the same… they’re cousins, not sisters. The key is to just follow the line of your lower lash line.
Now’s the time to conceal and cover… I took my NARS creamy concealer and placed that underneath my eyelids, on the bridge of my nose, and on my chin and then took my Neutrogena nourishing longwear foundation and applied it all with my blending sponge. I loveeeeee this blending sponge because it just really sets the makeup and makes it not look cakey.
Then, I set it all with my Rimmel London Stay Matte powder. This stuff is amazing! Not chalky or anything and really locks everything into place.
Then, I just curled my lashed and applied a few coats of my favorite drugstore mascara… Rimmel London ScandalEyes mascara in blackest black. Also, I have decided that I make extremely awkward faces when I apply makeup… am I the only one that does this? No? Good.
Then, it’s my favorite part… filling in my brows! If you wanna see exactly how I fill in my brows, you can check out my full tutorial and post on that here.
Then time for blush and lipstick! For blush I used my favorite drugstore blush – Milani’s Luminoso baked blush. It’s such a pretty color and perfect for any time of year. Then for lips, I used a fun darker color that is Wet N’ Wild’s A040 / Vinely Chilled (it’s from the Fergie line!).
And this is the finished look!
What do you think? Will you try this look out? Come stop by my blog sometime! I’d love to have you!
