Okay. I hear it over and over again. I want to read more about your life in France! What about living in France? Why don’t you write about your life overseas? Okay, I’m listening I promise. It’s just that my life is a pretty normal life, or to me at least. France has been such a big part of it for a while now I forget that this might be interesting to others. So I’m gonna start at the beginning and each week share a little more about our story. I asked over on Facebook and the majority of your guys, well everyone who answered, wanted me to start at the very beginning. We have a rather crazy love story, so I hope you find it interesting!! If not, back to regular programming tomorrow!
Our Love Story – Part 1
Back a lot of years ago when I was in college, I was your very typical stupid freshman. I saw all kinds of cute boys and I was on a mission to date as many as a could. Of course I didn’t think that at the time, but looking back it’s the only explanation I can think of. Now, I was a pretty naive girl. I went to college and really didn’t think about sleeping around, it was seriously only dating around. You might wonder why I’m sharing this info, because who really cares what I was, but it will be relevant later in the story.
I was a college athlete, playing volleyball on a scholarship, which is pretty much the only way I could have gone to this very expensive private college. That, school loans and help from my parents. (Thanks guys!) My first boyfriend in college was a very tall, very sweet man from straight out of Africa. He still had an accent and everything. He was probably one of the sweetest guys on earth and I was not the sweetest girl. He really deserved much more than me and thankfully (for him) we broke up. I can’t even remember how but I’m sure it was 2 in the morning, I called it quits on the phone, and then went about my business.
The next boy was from the Bahamas. He was super hot, an amazing athlete, and total like Rico Suave type personality but was not the best guy in the world. (He’s actually a good guy now) Since I was pretty naive, I dated him anyway, because, well, he was cute! And he liked me! That’s what matters, right? WRONG.
We only dated for a week but this would color my entire college career. Because little did I know, or maybe I did know but didn’t think it through very well (SHOCKING) when you hang with the bad boys you get a bad reputation. Funny how that works. I never slept with him, but for some reason it got around that I did. Which I didn’t know until a lot later. I can’t even remember how we broke up, I think he just dumped me one day.
During the time I was with this dude, we were sitting in the lounge area of my dorm just chatting. He asked if I wanted some food, I said ya, he got on the phone and told whoever was on the other side what we wanted. Then about 15 minutes later the hottest guy I had seen at school walked through the door. Oh my goodness, this man. Like WOAH.
Awe crap, I’m totally sitting with Joe (we’ll call him Joe, that’s not his real name) right now! I wonder if he’ll think we’re together? Never mind they play on the basketball team together. I scooted a little away from him to make it look like we were just friends. He smiled at me. I melted. Yikes, this man is smoking. He gave us our food and left.
Wait, what? He didn’t want to stay and chat? He didn’t want to hang out with me? Well, shoot, I think I ruined that one. Gone forever, this hot man. Except, he wasn’t because, well, we went to a really small school and of course I’d see him again. Someday.
