If you follow me on Instagram or my Facebook page, you might have seen that a little while back I got to head to Texas to the JCPenney headquarters. I haven’t really talked about why and I’m so excited to share more with you today! A little bit ago I was chosen, along with 4 other super amazing bloggers, to be a JCPenney ambassador and work with them for the next 9 months or so! I am so honored to be working with such a great company and today I wanted to share a little about my trip and about more about JCPenney. Going into this event I was excited to work with JCPenney even though I didn’t know much about the company. I have some history with the company, as I think we all do in some way; they’ve been around since 1912! I bought 3 out of my 4 prom dresses at JCPenney even after trying many other stores. My great-aunt worked for JCPenney for 20-something years and just recently retired. She loved her experience there and couldn’t say enough good about the company. Oh and I just found out – no joke – that James Cash Penney is an actual relative of mine! How random and cool is that? This is an ancestor book that belongs to my maternal Grandmother. I still need to make the exact connection, but he’s some kind of far removed cousin or uncle. I am so impressed with this company in so many aspects. They did this immersion event so that the ambassadors could learn more about them and let me tell you, it was a brilliant idea. After those couple days at the Plano, TX headquarters, I am a believer. I want to tell everyone, everywhere that they need to shop at JCPenney. They impressed me on so many levels. Everyone I met within the company, and it’s a big company, talked about the same ideals. Customer first, great quality, great prices, making sure to ‘fit’ their customers in these areas too, and trying to get people to see that these truly are the values of the company. Everything shone through as they spoke and you could tell that they meant it. I found it interesting that a big corporation could truly care about the customer. They want to provide good quality, stylish products at a great price. They strive to take care of customers the way they themselves would want to be taken care of. And it shows through! The store that was founded by Mr. Penney was originally called the Golden Rule Store. And that foundation is still alive and present today.
I love the concept of the fit. They want to ‘fit’ their customers. To have stylish home pieces that are beautiful and work practically in your home. They want to provide good quality jeans for the mom who is buying her 5th pair this month. (Gosh I can relate to that!) You know what else I love about this? That throughout the offices and stores the models JCPenney has chosen were all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors. It’s kind of a refreshing change from the photoshopped thighs of other models to make them even thinner that you continue to see out there, know what I mean? From home to fashion, they try to create pieces that will help add to what you have, not make you redo an entire wardrobe or room. I think this is remarkably practical and thoughtful for such a big company to do. So often it’s put upon us that to be ‘fashionable’ you need all the new things. JCPenney is teaching us and helping us to be fashionable by adding a few pieces here and there to round out what we have. Feels good to have a company looking out for you like that. We also got to do a little shopping! Don’t you want to see what I got? I know, it was definitely a fun part! **The first two pictures were taken by Jenny Starkey Photography. Thanks Jenny!** My shopping mission was to find clothes that work for my traveling lifestyle. Because do you know how hard it is to pack your whole wardrobe every year? It’s tough. So I was searching for shirts & pants that would be light weight and still cute. I definitely nailed it. This tank top is a new favorite. I have to try not to wear it! It’s comfortable, cute and perfect for summer! I bought the shirt in this picture while there as well. It’s a light weight white shirt that’s a little see through. It’s perfect because you can tie it to the side or just tuck in the front and it goes with pretty much everything. I need more clothes that go with pretty much anything. This was taken in the hotel just before leaving for the airport. I couldn’t even wait to wear my new clothes! These are some JCPenney soft pants that I bought. They’re perfect because they are super light and airy but also comfy — my kinda clothes! I paired it here with the tank shown above because it just worked for travel day but they can be worn tons of ways. I even wrote a post about it! When we were in a session talking about the upcoming women’s fashion, they mentioned the jumpsuit. I just fell in love with the options and new I had to grab one for myself. When I found this jumpsuit by Bisou Bisou, I knew it was the one! (It’s on sale right now!) It’s soft and slinky and perfect for summer. You can also throw a blazer over it, a colored one would be so cute, and wear it in the winter! I plan on getting a lot of use out of it. This one chosen by the People StyleWatch editors is great with really pretty side details. To sum it up, you guys, it was great. I wish you all could see or talk to me personally because sometimes it’s hard to relay a passion for something through typing. But really, I couldn’t say enough good things about this company. I hope that if you don’t already shop there, you go give them a try! But because being a part of the action is always better, we have a video of a trip to share with you! We had a mini camera crew following us around the entire time (kinda like celebrities! lol) and they put together a fun little video for each blogger. Here’s mine!
