Last week I had my friend Hilary come and talk about pregnancy style. She’s super cute and if you haven’t read it, check it out! I apologize if you thought I was pregnant, my site was acting funky and I couldn’t get in there to write an intro!! This time I knew I had to. Hilary and I met at Bloggy Boot camp a couple years ago and have been friends ever since. She’s cute, funny, and a really great friend. If you want a good laugh, be sure to check her out. But today she’s here to share a recipe for an easy DIY body scrub. Yes please!!
I have reached that point in pregnancy where shaving my legs is something I equate with climbing Everest. I want to do it, but it’s probably not going to happen in this lifetime. Don’t worry, I do shave my legs. Occasionally. But I have to sit down to do it.
I should probably just get one of those sketchy shower chairs for the remainder of my pregnancy. Because if shaving my legs is hard, than washing my feet is akin to walking a tightrope in high heels.
The point is, I could use some exfoliation. Huh? You say. Well, think about it: if its hard to get to my legs and feet then you can guarantee I’m not spending much time scrubbing those spots. Further, the tiny space between my boobs and belly has become a repository for lint, dead skin cells, and occasional fruit loops.
I know. I’m gross.
I was so grossed out with my hairy legs and scaly skin that I concocted a magical scrub to make my body look less like something caked in bran flakes and more like the “glowing” goddess of maternity that I aspire to be. *ahem.
Without further adieu
DIY Body Scrub
So here’s what I used:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup salt
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon coconut emulsion (you could use vanilla extract, or whatever to scent it)
Mix all the ingredients together and dump them in a jar. That’s it! So easy, right? And to think that I could totally gift this and look like a regular Martha Stewart…I’m totally going to.
Now, when you use this in the shower, be careful because the oil makes it slippery (obviously). Your skin will feel incredible afterwards! And, it even LOOKS better! I will be using this at least once a week from here on out 🙂
