So the last couple weeks when I went missing around these parts it was because we took a nice little road trip. See, because my husband plays professional basketball, he often only signs one year contracts. It’s a lot different than the NBA, let me tell you. We’ve been married 6 years now and have lived in 5 different houses. And one season the hubs had to go without me because I was too pregnant to fly & change doctors. So he caught the birth of his second son on Skype! 🙂
Anyway, all that to say we’ve only lived in the same city for two seasons one time — St. Etienne. The city itself isn’t that fabulous, but it’s close to Lyon (beautiful city!), and the south of France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany… basically it’s a really awesome location. The other really awesome thing about it is the people who live there. We met some of our best friends in that city and we have actually ended up going back there for vacation since!
This year some of our other good friends who are living the same crazy basketball life as we are happen to be living an hour away from our other friends! Perfect! So we hopped in the car after one of the husband’s games and road tripped it through the night across France. What a life I live…
We got to attend our friends basketball game which is cool because I realized that as many basketball games as I’ve been too I have never once been to a game with my husband! And we actually grabbed a family picture which is very rare!
Man, my Tae-man is getting so big. It’s so weird to see him acting manly. I mean, I love it, but it’s so bizarre. I am so so proud of this little man. He’s becoming such a good kid and I’m so thankful. Big shout out to his daddy who I really think is the reason he’s such a good boy. Without him our family would be complete chaos!
I had to share at least one photo of this little princess. I mean, seriously? She is beyond adorable. And so happy, this little girl is always laughing, I love it. By the end of our stay she loved me and would actually come to me!! I feel so special.
Then we went to a chocolate factory. If you’re ever in France and have a chance to go to a chocolate factory, take it! All of those chocolates below were for tasting. Yep. And let me tell you, I tasted.
We headed from there over to Saint-Paul-en-Jarez where we spent our spring break last year. Our friends were nice enough to let us enjoy Christmas morning with them. These people are lifetime friends. So so awesome. But all good things have to come to an end! My husband had to leave early to head back for practice. But because he only had something like 5 days of vacation, me and the kids stayed a little longer. Which meant a long train ride home.
These kids though, they’re my soldiers. When Tae was young traveling with him was hard and I hated it. Now, we’re seasoned travelers. We got this thang down! They carry their own bags, and are total troopers. It actually makes it fun and hopefully memories they will keep with them for a lifetime. Which is a good thing because we leave on Saturday and have to stop in Amsterdam, Minneapolis and then LA. Not looking forward to it but I know my homies will pull through.
This kid has visited 5 different countries, 28 international flights, speaks two languages, and is one awesome kid. Please excuse my proud momma moment.
I know it looks like I’m favoring this one kid right now. But the fact is that Eli was having major attitude and wouldn’t let me take any pictures of him. So unless you want to see some pouty, angry faces, I’ll just leave that one alone for now!
So I know it’s late, but we had a merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope you all did too! Wish me luck on my suuuuper long flight this weekend! Yikessss!
