Beautiful Battle Wounds

I’ve definitely shared with you the worst part of our journey with our heart baby, Bennet, the really really difficult part. There is more to share, more light to shed on the journey of of a heart baby. But for now I want to show you some joy! Today I want to share with you my gorgeous baby and his beautiful battle wounds. Today I introduce you to my amazing…

Only a mere 2 months after his second open heart surgery, these pictures were taken of this little fighter at 6 months old. This first picture is by far my favorite. Aimee Levy captured his beautiful old soul. But even after so much struggle, so much fighting, so much pain, so much confusion this kid is the most laid back smiley kid I have ever seen.
Bennet Open Heart Surgery

It doesn’t matter that I wasn’t able to hold him for the first 5 weeks of his life or that his first sensations were pain and discomfort. He is still a big mommas boy and he holds no grudges. Doctors appointments are a breeze, he accepts cuddles from just about anyone as long as he knows his mama is near by, and he gives his smiles away for free. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrom

It doesn’t matter that his heart doesn’t beat the same as your or mine, he doesn’t know any different and he is happy just the way he is. Bennet4

This is my miracle baby, my glimpse into how big and how great our God is. This is my precious gift.

Bennet 6 Bennet5

Today he is nine months old and happy as a clam. He might eat through a gtube, he might not have great muscle tone, he might function with lower oxygen than a heart healthy person does, but he doesn’t care! No this is my……SUPER BENNET!!!

What a beautiful boy and what an incredible story. My prayers will continue to be with your amazing family. And I have to admit, although all of the pictures are beautiful, my favorite is the last one with his cape. Truly brilliant!
