3 Winter Braids

Happy Monday everyone!

Don’t be confused, I did in fact cut my hair. This post was done a couple weeks ago for Rags to Stitches. I am a contributor over there & I shared about winter braids. When my hair was long it was get ratted & disgusting. Really the only way to save it from getting all messed up was braids or buns. I lived in these braids before the big cut!

3 Simple Winter Braids

Last week I wrote about some winter hair care tips and this was definitely one of them! It’s easy, still cute & protects your hair! So without further adieu, here are…

Winter Braids 3 braids

French Fishtail

All three of these looks are very easy. They can all also be worn with a beanie or ear warmers so you’re always warm. If you know how to do a fishtail braid, this one will be easy. Two sections like a fishtail but start it like a French braid with just half of it. To see exactly how I’ve done it, you can check out the video below.

The Simple Braid

regular braid

This is just a simple braid with a little twist in the back. I use the twist in the back to make sure all the hair stays over to one side. you can also pin the front back too. I then pin my bangs back into the braid because I like to have my hair out of my face. Voila! Easy peezy!

The Twisted Unbraid

Is braiding intimidating to you – no worries! This is the easiest style to do. Remember those topsy turvy ponytails from the 80’s? Well, it’s that just over and over again all the way down. If you want to see how to do it, I made a video just for you!

Except now that I have short hair, I have to come up with some new ways to wear it! Actually, I’m super excited to start sharing some short hairstyle tutorials with you!

Hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

Gorgeous hair, love the braids! I need to stop being so lazy and always wearing my hair plain down…this is definitely motivation!

Thank you! These are so easy, you’ll love it!

I did the twisted braid today and it’s very cute! It ends up to be pretty messy towards the middle of the day, but that gives it a new look. 🙂 My hair is very similar to yours (minus the curl) so I love your tutorials!!!

So glad you liked it! Mine gets pretty messy too, but messy is ‘in’ so I just go with it!

I absolutely adore your hair, I’m a girl in a family of girls and I just learnt more from 15 min on your blog than all 16yrs of my life. What color is your hair? Do you dye it? If so, what color, it is positively Devine! You’re stunning by the way

    Natalia,

I loved your 3 quick braid segment! I will look thru your videos on YouTube to see if you show us how to French braid. I still haven’t learned after many years and no excuses!
My questions for you are: do you wear your hair braided to bed and if so which braid? My hair is to my hips+ & VERY thick. I have a horrible time with knots and tangles, breaking hair, etc. I hope to cut half off soon because right now I can’t just hop up and go do something with my kids or hub. I miss the spontaneity because it has always been my nature. What is your fav, quick go to hair style for those last minute football games where it’s hot, humid and I don’t want to embarrass my family- I do that enough by yelling & cheering for them!! I greatly appreciate any advice you might have for me and others in the same book. Thank you for your time.

    P.S. I use e-salon and LOVE it!!

HI! I am so glad you liked it, thank you! I don’t have a tutorial with how to French Braid yet, but I need to do that! So suggestions for hairstyles – have you tried the one I have done most recently? It’s a faux-hawk. It’s cute and fun, perfect for dirty hair and great with long hair, I’m sure. It would work well with humidity. It’s a new favorite of mine because it’s off my neck & out of my face but still cute!! Here’s also my archives of hair styles so you can go through and check them out. http://manouvellemode.com/category/beauty/hair/ Hope it helps a bit and you find some you like!

    Oh my goodness!!

Loving your auburn locks in the third braid. Could you please tell me what color brand and shade you or your stylist used? I’ve been coloring mine a darker shade of auburn and unfortunately it is drying out my ends and isn’t soft or shiny anymore =[
I want to keep the ginger auburn without sacrificing my hair health too.

    Thanks so much!

    Cheers,
    M

Hi! I do it myself and I just use colors I grab at the store. What I try to do (because I don’t use the same color every time) I get the darkest brown I can find and the deepest brightest red and then I mix them! I have a lot of hair and use two bottles of color anyway so this is perfect for me. And the way I see it is why pay $70+ for something I can do myself at home. I hope this helps but here are some colors I’ve used before: http://manouvellemode.com/2012/10/12/how-to-coloring-your-hair-at-home/ Hope this helps!

That makes sense with the two colors! The link was fabulous and i appreciate your fast response =] What is your mask or conditioning routine? I haven’t found one that doesn’t strip my color.

Honestly, I only wash my hair 2 times a week and just wash and condition like normal when I do. My hair goes really fast, but generally stay pretty healthy and the color stays okay. I’ll look into that though!
