Hey peeps!
Happy Monday!
I’m heading off to Paris tomorrow — without kids — to meet a girlfriend & hang out. Over night. Without kids. Like, by myself. Yep, this momma is pretty excited! Did I mention I’m going without my babies? I love those little monsters, but it’s nice to have a mommy time out every once in a while, you know what I mean? And what a better place to have it than in Paris. *sigh*
So I thought it would be fun to give you a little round up of hair tutorials I’ve done on the blog here so far. Don’t worry, I’m not done with making them, I just feel like sometimes they can get lost in the shuffle & it’ll be nice to have them rounded up somewhere. I am going to make a hair page soon which will be super awesome. But for now, I’ll start with braids.
Here is a round up of tutorials involving braids that I’ve done. It makes me realize how many more braid tutorials I haven’t done! Gotta get crackin’!
Braids
All right, now I’m gonna break it down for ya!
Hunger Games
This baby, The Katniss Braid, was really popular right around when The Hunger Games came out. Who woulda thought? I’ve seen many variations, but mine is the only one I have seen with a twist in it. Which is weird because hers clearly had a twist. So basically, follow this tutorial.
Half up Dutch Braid
This one is still pretty popular. I like it a lot too because it’s easy. Gosh, I think all my tutorials are easy! Just the way I like it! Christie did a short hair version of it too, for all your shorties out there. Here is my tutorial.
Braided Bun
I did this low braided bun during the holiday beauty series I did. It’s very very easy and great for second day hair! It’s basically a low bun with two braids wrapped around it.
Braided Ballerina Bun
I just think this is so pretty. Very elegant with a different twist. In the original post I show you two ways to create the ballerina bun. And yet, it really didn’t get pinned that much & I thought it would. Sometimes it is so weird what goes ‘viral’ on Pinterest & what doesn’t. A lot of the time I am way off with what I think will.
Lauren Conrad Braided Bun
This one is a little bit old, like a year actually. But I’ve grown a lot since then, well the blog has (I, thankfully, have not) and I think many of you might have not seen it. It’s easy & pretty, my favorite. Check it out, you’ll see!
Big side Braid
I actually like this one. Not too popular on here, but it’s fun and actually can be a little fancy. Once again, easy, pretty, versatile - awesome. Here’s the original post.
Big Poofy French Braid
I saw a pin on Pinterest of this gorgeous, big French braid. I had to try it. The girl in the picture (which is in the original post) must have had some extra hair added in because the braid is huge. This is about as big as I could get it with my natural mane.
Triple Braided Ponytail
Another personal favorite. It’s a ponytail with three braids, one on each side & one on the top. As I was making this ponytail I was thinking “Oh this is not going to turn out how I thought” but it actually was better! I ended up liking it a lot and wearing it more. The original post is 10 Creative Ways to Wear a Ponytail.
Double side Braids
Christie did this pretty ‘do in the summer. There isn’t a tutorial for it, but I wanted to share it because it’s really pretty & easy. It doesn’t really need a tutorial, but it might be good for inspiration for some of you short-haired gals!
Double Hanging Side braids
Another favorite. I like it because it’s different. What I am realizing though is that on this blog people aren’t interested in seeing different. They are interested in seeing easy, practical ways to wear your hair. That’s fine with me, because that’s what I do mostly anyway!
Braided Top Knot
This was originally share in my top knots post. Which was really popular. However this hairstyle isn’t as practical as I would have liked. I am trying to think of was to rework it – this is it for now. If you have an extra set of hands it’s more doable.
Doubled Rope Braids
I think this take on the rope braid is classy & pretty. It can definitely be dressed up for an occasion or just for every day. It’s also great on second day hair.
“Facebook Braid”
I called this the Facebook Braid because I asked on Facebook which style you all would like to see how to do and this one won. I thought it was pretty although it wasn’t really all that popular. What do you think? Christie did a short hair version of this style as well. Super cute if you ask me!
Side Rope Braid
This is an oldie oldie, but popular! It is my original “how to do a rope braid” video, so maybe that’s why. I probably need to redo the pictures though. I don’t like these ones. Here is the original rope braid post.
Double front Side Braids
This Rachel McAdam’s-esque style is super easy, great style for summer or second or third (or 4th or 5th!) day hair. Perfect for ladies on the run & not a ton of time for a hairstyle that day. Christie did a short hair version here.
Well, there you have it! Lots of tutorials for braided hairstyles for you! Feel free to Pin away! In fact, I’d love it if you did!
I know there are tons more I could do, but what would you like to see? Anything you’ve been dying to learn? Maybe I could try to tackle it for you. Leave the link to the style in the comments if you’d like & I’ll see what I can do!
Happy Hair Inspiration Monday! Wear a cute ‘do today!

Sandy a la Mode
Oh I bet you could, sandy, these are so easy! You should try one or two!
I am in love that you posted this. I am really getting into my hair and the best way to do that is with braids. I just learned how to french braid small parts of my hair and I was wondering where else I could go. Thanks! Also I totally agree with you on the “Katniss Braid”, hers does have a twist and people don’t see that. They think that you french braid and where it to the side then it’s the braid but nooo. lol. Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to try these babies out!

So glad you agree on the Katniss braid!! So funny I saw them all & thought “doesn’t anyone notice the twist?!” So glad you liked them, thanks!
I love them all! I really wish I hadnt cut my hair so that I was able to try more of these but Christie rocks the braids with short hair. I have no excuse now
Yep, that’s what I say!
I’m sure you could do it, they’ll look great!
Gosh those are pretty. I regret never really learning how to braid anything more than just a basic braid when I was growing up. Thankfully I am getting to learn as an adult with two daughters lol
Have fun in PARIS!
Yes! You can do it, it’s not too hard! And with daughters it will come in handy!
I am thrilled that I found your tutorials! My sister alway had her daughter’s hair looking so beautiful with different styles. It was a natural gift for her. I now have a little girl and my sister isn’t around to teach me how to fix my daughter’s hair. I have learned so much in the past few days. It has even helped me step out of the box and break the style I have had for years. Thank you so much. The color red that you have in the double side braid tutorial is EXACTLY the color I have been searching for. You wouldn’t happen to do your own color or know what color was used would you?
Hi! I am so glad that you’ve been enjoying my site! Thank you!
I actually do my color at home myself. It’s not as hard as it looks & it saves me at least 60 to 80 bucks every time I go! Here is the post I wrote about how I color my hair – http://manouvellemode.com/2012/10/12/how-to-coloring-your-hair-at-home/ & the color that I use is in there too. I am due for a color soon & am going to be using a different product, so if you check back in a few weeks you might see a new one!
I love these.. Such amazing ideas..
thank you!!
Love your blog! Thanks so much! I copied your hair idea and linked to you in my post http://aredheadartist.blogspot.com/#!/2013/02/easy-braid-n-bun-hairdo.html
