Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A day that should be celebrated. A day that means a lot to me and my family. I love that we’re interracial & intercultural and although our road wasn’t always easy, it was people like Dr. King who paved the way for families like us. So thank you, Dr. King, I hope to meet you in paradise someday!
I had written a beautifully eloquent post about racism & why it exists & how we can change. But the truth is it wasn’t all that eloquent & I didn’t want to post something that wasn’t up to par. So maybe if I perfect it at some point I’ll post it, but in the meantime, I have written about being an interracial family a bit if you’d like to read!
I do, however, have a hair tutorial! I am still settling into our new place & getting things in order & have yet to do a hair tutorial in my new apartment. Luckily I had some from before Christmas to share!
Easy Headband Bun
Isn’t it pretty? It’s actually a style that’s perfect for the winter too! You can use a headband, an ear warmer or even a light scarf.
The tutorial is really very easy. Don’t believe me? check out the YouTube video, it’s barely over 3 minutes!
I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial! It’s fun and easy and perfect for all you busy ladies out there.
What kind of tutorials would you like to see on the blog? I am always open for ideas & suggestions! Oh and I am getting my hair cut soon… What should I do? Should I chop it off? It’s driving me so crazy, I just might…
Here’s to a great week! Cheers!

What a pretty style!! I have seen a similar Pin on Pinterest, but it didn’t have a wonderful video tute. Can’t watch at work today, but I will soon! I LOVE your long hair but could totally understand you wanting to cut it. Mine is a bit longer than my shoulders and heavily layered. I have alot of natural wave, so I wear it that way mostly. Some styles, I can’t wear it in cuz of the layers on top, but for the ease of styling it each day, I’ll take it. I think I could do this style with some bobby pins to hold down the top layers
Can’t wait to see your new do!
That sounds like a great cut when you can wear it without a lot of styling. That’s something I need. It’s too long and getting unhealthy at the bottom because I haven’t had it trimmed in a long time. I’ll be sure to post with my new do!
Wow so cute! I will have to try this soon!
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Do NOT CUT YOUR HAIR OFF IS GORGEOUS I WOULD DIE TO HAVE YOUR HAIR !!!!
haha thanks! I’m gonna cut it, just not chop it off. Yet…
Love, love, lvoe this tutorial! so easy! can’t wait to try it tomorrow.
So glad you liked it!
thanks for the tutorial! i’ve been trying variants of this look for a while but have always had problems with my hair staying in place throughout the day… i assumed that it was because my hair was too long for the tuck, but this proves otherwise. will try again!
i would absolutely *love* to see a tutorial for these gorgeous double waterfall braids: http://weheartit.com/entry/34653358
i’ve been trying to copy it but just can’t seem to get it right. Oh also a victory roll tutorial/vintage updo tutorials!
Oh my gosh yes, that’s very pretty! I will give it a try for sure! Thanks so much for the suggestions!
That is so pretty! I will have to get a fancy headband and try it! As for what I would like to see more of, anything that involves hair being up and out of your face! That seems to be the only way I can stand my hair lately
Oh man, I totally understand that! I always like mine out of my face! Thanks for your input!
so adorable! i wear my hair up like everyday and i always need new styles:)
Oh you’ll love this one then! Easy & cute – less than 5 minutes!
I just found your blog and I ADORE it! Your hair is amazing! You are beautiful!! I wish I had hair like yours but mine is fine and thin. Sad. Will still attempt your styles though
Thank you! But long thick hair has it’s styling challenges too! Like right now I’m sick of it! But I appreciate your comments, makes me smile!
