Styling Leggings in 2013

This post brought to you by No nonsense. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love leggings! I admit it! I think they are practical, comfortable, versatile, and adorable! I tell myself, leggings are not pants. Oh, but I want them to be SO bad! And honestly people, they are not going away from what I can see. Designers are still adding them to their new lines, stars are still finding new ways to wear them, and they are only getting more interesting with different materials and embellishments. So in 2013 I am embracing my love for leggings. And I will tell you why: No nonsense tights and leggings. Its a brand of tights and leggings and I am telling you, I am in love! The leggings are nice and thick (no jiggling or panty lines allowed!) and they have an added feature of a control top panel that ensures a flattering, comfortable fit. They can be found food & drug stores as well as mass retailers AND they're affordable!

So if you love leggings, wear them! There are always cute, flattering ways to wear them. Just follow some style guidelines for 2013:

  • Leggings should be thick, thick thick. Anything that event hints at a panty line or turns see through when stretched is just a pair of tights!
  • Know your body type. Tops should always cover the majority of your backside AT A MINIMUM.
  • Make sure your outfit is balanced. Don't pair them with a tight top or dress. This is rarely flattering no matter how good your body is and it will look unbalanced.

So I took my amazing No nonsense leggings and styled them four ways to give you some ideas. Leggings I love wearing leggings with a dress. Especially in the winter months! So for 2013 keep this look fresh by pairing them with some booties. Also, I am not a fan of the mid calf leggings for this style. So go full length for a little more "grown up" look. LeggingsBabydoll Yes, leggings can be dressed up. With a long dressy blouse and a pair of high heels they can actually look very chic! And now that their are many new styles of leggings (think leather) the possibilities are great. Leggingsdressy Comfort, sweet comfort! The reason we all accepted leggings to begin with. I love wearing my leggings all layered up with a comfy pair of boots. A long stretchy tank with a loose fitting sweater help give the look some symmetry. LegginsLayered And finally try wearing your leggings with a long button up or tunic, a blazer and some wedge booties. Perfect for a casual date or day out shopping. Why not be comfortable and cute and the same time? LeggingsLongshirt And this year No nonsense is teaming up with Jill Martin – a fashion expert and Emmy Award-winning TV personality and co-author of the New York Times bestselling style guide “I Have Nothing to Wear!" Jill brings practical fashion advice and will be featured in an online series on how to where colorful tights & leggings in 2013! I don't know about you, but I am always looking for any kind of tips I can find!

Your ideas and pictures are great, I love those looks! What do you suggest, if at all…a style for someone with a larger bottom area? I see women wearing leggings that honestly shouldn’t be and don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to be mean, I’m alittle larger in that department myself right now and just couldn’t see myself wearing legging with the fear of looking terrible unless it was a look that completely covered my bottom half? Help…I’d love to here your thoughts and ideas and it won’t hurt my feelings at all if you wouldn’t recommend wearing them until I lost the rest if my two rears…

I think women with bigger bottom halves can still wear them. I would make sure for one that they’re not see through, although that goes for anyone! The other suggestion would be to wear a tunic or top that comes below your butt. It would be more flattering. Pair it with a belt to cinch your waist. Boots or flats would also be a good option. You could also wear leggings under a dress as well. I wouldn’t say don’t wear them at all, just wear them modestly. Which also should probably be another rule for everyone wearing leggings! Thanks for asking, I hope this helps!

I was cleaning out my closet & wondering if I should get rid of my leggings, but you’ve given me some new inspiration to wear them in different ways – thanks!!
