How to Curl your Hair

Happy Saturday everyone!

I know it’s the weekend and I don’t usually post on Saturdays but I have a fun series for the first 12 Days of Christmas! Since we are mainly a fashion/beauty blog and hairstyles are a favorite thing of mine, I thought I would do the 12 Days of Holiday Hairstyles!

I’ll be posting one a day for the 12 days, but if you subscribe to my YouTube channel, you can get a sneak peak before they go up!

And to start off the 12 days, I thought a tutorial on how to curl your hair would be appropriate. Curling your hair is a perfect base for many more styles or you can just leave it curled as is! Everyone loves those big Kim Kardashian curls and now you can have them too!

Here is the video on how to get this look. It’s simple and will probably take you less than a 1/2 hour. I have thick long hair and that’s about how long it takes me, so with less hair = less time! Enjoy the tutorial and if you like it, I’d love it if you shared! A big thanks to Tico & Tina for the intro & ending — they’re amazing!

Below I have included links to what I use in my hair. You can view the collection and the link will take you to where you can purchase the product if you’re interested. If your hair doesn’t hold curl well, it would be wise to invest in some products to help it out a bit. Also the curling iron plays a big part of the curls lasting, and the one I have linked here – hot tools — is excellent. All these products I have used personally or on clients so I know they work!

Great tutorial! I have a question. I curl my hair the second way like you, but my curls never stay. What’s the trick? Should I be spraying my hair with a product right before I curl? Also, it looks like you spray each curl right after you finish that piece. I usually wait until the end, so it sounds like I should spray sooner and doing each curl individually, right?

It depends a lot on your type of hair as well. I would suggest using a root lifting spray as well as a mouse or something similar to give your hair more texture. Product definitely helps. Then I would spray after every curl, since normally it falls out. Also, don’t touch the curls until the very end & they are all cooled. Even then just a quick shake through is fine. Also what kind of curling iron do you have? That makes a ton of difference as well. Try hot tools if you don’t already have it, there’s a link in the post. Good luck! :)

I would like to know what size curling iron your using. I am looking for a new curling iron. When I moved mine was stolen by the mythical moving fairy.. arg so I bought a cheap one just to get by and I am hating it. I have long hair but its finer than yours. (Btw I love your hair). I am not looking to break the bank.. lol I am loving your blog. I found it via pinterest. I am loving the easy hairstyles that I don’t have to spend all day doing.. Maybe you could find a faster way to do victory rolls for me. ;0) Thanks

Hi! I use a 1 inch Hot Tools curling iron in this video. They really aren’t that expensive, I think $40? and they’re really good. I use it in my professional kit too. It totally helps to have & use the right products.

Thanks for your compliments, I appreciate it! I will have to look into victory rolls, I haven’t tried them yet! Stay tuned! :)
