Flavor of the Holidays

******************

I remember it like it was yesterday. I couldn’t sleep. I heard a noise. “That’s him! I bet he’s here!” Nope, that’s just my parents in the living room. So I lie in bed anxiously waiting the morning. What would be there? Would I get the presents I asked for? Would there be a lot? Oh the possibilities.

I finally doze off to sleep. But it doesn’t last long, I snap up at 5AM and sneak into my brothers’ room to see if they’re awake too. Of course they are! We huddle together for a bit, talking about what we’re gonna do this morning, what we hope we get and how we can’t wait.

Finally we decide to wake up my parents. Of course, they’re dead asleep. They must have been staying up late waiting for Santa too! They drag themselves out of bed and slide into the kitchen. We all wait not so patiently with the gifts trying to guess what is what.

Then we hear the coffee brewing. The sweet aroma fills the kitchen and flows into the living room. Dad pours his first cup and comes to join us. Now the fun can begin.

******************

Stories like this are memories of mine that will last forever. For as long as I can remember my dad has been drinking coffee at home. I used to not appreciate the sweet smell until those late nights in college kicked in. And now being a mother, I can understand its true worth.

Now that I am older, and no longer interested in waking up at 5AM for presents, I get to stay with my parents when I’m in town. During these times one of my favorite things is waking up to that same smell I remember from when I was a kid, except now I get to have that cup of joe with my Dad. It’s a time I cherish and I am so thankful to have that bond with him.

Now, we are regular Original Blend, Dunkin’ Donuts® coffee drinkers and usually buy the whole bean coffee. But another thing we love in our house is pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, you name it – we love it. So when I found out that Dunkin’ Donuts has a Pumpkin Spice blend, I was excited. No more stops to your regular coffee shops when you can pick it up at your local grocery store! A perfect way to enjoy the flavors of the season without spending the money. If pumpkin’s not up your alley, they also have Mocha Mint and Gingerbread Cookie. There’s something for everyone!

So naturally, I went out and bought the pumpkin spice blend & it’s now a regular in the coffee pot. You are probably thinking that you don’t live near a Dunkin’ but that’s okay! Dunkin’ Donuts’ holiday blends are available at your local grocery store! I even bought mine at Target. If you’re not a coffee lover but know of one or have one in your family, they can be perfect stocking stuffers. They even have little tags that say ‘the gift that keeps on pouring.’ So cute, right? But make sure you act fast & stock up! They’re limited edition and could be gone too soon!

Now, I hope you guys know that I wouldn’t share anything with you that I didn’t truly love or enjoy myself. I have personally tasted the pumpkin spice & the Gingerbread Cookie flavors and they are delicious. I even enjoyed them in my huge mug! :)

What reminds you of the holidays? Is it a scent? The decorations? I want to hear what makes you feel like it truly is the holidays!

Thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts® packaged coffee at grocery for being a sponsor. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I love opening some windows in the house, putting on a cozy sweater, lighting some smelly candles and drinking some sipping chocolate. That and watching Christmas vacation!! ;)
