I have a super duper easy DIY for ya today. It’s a cute, fitted pencil skirt. It will take seriously 20 minutes of your time. You’re welcome.
Take the material of your choice and fold it in half. I wanted 30 inches from waist to below my knees length wise, so I made sure I measured that. Then I measured my waist, hips, booty and cut those measurements in 1/4. There was a little bit of a curve from the small booty that I do have, as you can see. However, I cut it a little wide and had to take some in.
I actually tried on the skirt with the pins in it and repinned certain areas that needed to be tighter. It was a lot staighter of a line than I thought… #needmorecurves Then you sew up either side, add an elastic waistband at the top like the DIY maxi dress I did a while back, and voila, you’re done! Didn’t I say it was easy?
I actually just had the urge to have a colored skirt, then I saw a picture on Instagram of a girl wearing a long, pencil skirt and I knew I needed one! I am happy with the way it turned out and already and thinking through what my next one’s gonna look like! I am loving this sewing thing!
I paired it with a big poofy top knot and my Walmart Beatles tank, which I love by the way. That reminds me, I love the Beatles and grew up listening to them. However they seem to have never quite made it to the Bahamas and my husband seems to think Michael Jackson was a bigger super star than the Beatles. What do you think, MJ or the Beatles?
My vote’s with the Beatles. Obviously.
