So a couple weeks ago I asked my mom if she read my blog. After a little bit of a pause (okay a long pause) and a “uuhhh ya, of course I read it…” I knew I had my answer. Now why wouldn’t she read it, it’s so informative! Maybe because she’s worn her hair the same way for the last 15 years and there aren’t as many pictures of my super cute kids up here anymore?
So then I started thinking about women like my mom. She is so used to doing things the same way for the last however many years, it’s so hard to branch out and try new things. Specially if you’re busy and need to be ready quick. So Christie and I came up with a little series, Get Ready in ____ Minutes! Yesterday Christie shared three ways she can get ready in 5 minutes and today I am going to show you a couple looks that work for me. Hopefully this will inspire you to get a little creative even if you don’t have a lot of time.
Top Knot & Maxi
This is a go to look for me. I don’t wash my hair as much as normal people do… don’t judge, I have a lot of it and it’s long. I try to steer clear of the pony tail and top knots are a great alternative. There are quite a few choices too, I did a post a little bit ago with some top knot tutorials if you need some inspiration.
The maxi dress is so easy, it takes the guessing out of matching/pairing, you just throw it on and you’re done! I love this particular one because of the back, isn’t it cute? For makeup I am just wearing face lotion and mascara. Sometimes that’s all there is time for and for hot summer days, it’s perfect.
Can I get an Amen! for fedoras being popular? I mean, what’s a girl to do with a bad hair day and just a baseball cap? It’s a rough life trying to stay fashionable, isn’t it ladies? Well on days where I haven’t had a change to wash my hair
for a few days, I like to throw on the fedora. And if you know me in real life, you might have seen this one for like three days straight. Don’t judge… okay I have no excuses, judge away.
Same makeup routine, mascara and lotion, I always wear SPF on my face. Sometimes I’ll go big and apply tinted moisturizer, but today just the lotion and mascar. Fedora to cover the mop, baggy shirt so I am comfy and shorts! I honestly try to stay away from flip flops because they are so casual, so these are a good alternative. My five-year-old took these pictures, so that’s why they’re a little cropped.
And there you have it! I think the biggest point about getting ready in 5 minutes is that you have to embrace the messy. Act like that’s how it was meant to look, and own it ladies! Rock that fro if that’s what you got!
Happy Friday! I hope you take at least 5 minutes for your self this weekend and feel a little extra cute!
Rock on ladies, rock on.
