Well, summer is in full swing around these parts with lots of swimming and playing and being active and I love it. I especially love tiring out my boys, which can sometimes prove to be challenging but it’s fun for all of us, so I’m gonna say it’s worth it.
I also love coming up with makeup and hair tutorials that are perfect for summer. Christie shared the perfect makeup routine for a day at the pool/beach/lake and I just shared my ‘no makeup, makeup’ look. Today I am going to share another look that works great in the summertime. It’s my golden shimmer eye look. It is more makeup than the other two I just mentioned, but could still be great for a night out on the town or just a beautiful summer day!
Here is what you’ll need. I am showing you my palettes, but I am sure you could substitute any similar colors. Or just buy a palette at Target with similar colors all in one!
The palette on the left in black I got at a discount beauty supply store for professionals in LA. Love it. The silver one is Kryolan. The liner and mascara are L’Oreal and the small palette is Dior. The sheer shimmer finish is e.l.f.
Start with a neutral base applied on top of a primer (if needed). Add the darker golden color to the brow bones and into the crease. blend it out to just about a 1/2 inch from the beginning of your eyebrow. Add the brighter gold into the crease and corner, but not higher. For a little more drama, you can add a dark brown just in the corners.
Then add the sheer shimmer all over your lid and up and out just under your eye brows. It won’t cover the gold and will blend everything together. This is why I use a sheer shimmer. With a touch of dark brown eye liner and mascara and you’re good to go!
In case you were wondering, I am aware my eyebrows need to be waxed. So no awkward moments here like ‘oh my gosh, look at her eyebrows, how embarrassing!’ It will be taken care of soon. Hopefully.
Here is the finished look!! What do you think? To see a tutorial for how I do a bronzed over all look, you can visit Thirty Handmade Days. Piece these two together and you have the perfect summer makeup!
Well, what do you think? Is this a look you would try?
Have a great day!
