It’s been quite rainy and chilly the last couple of days over here, during our spring break too! I don’t know about you guys, but chilly weather equals cup of hot coffee, cozy blankets, maybe a movie and definitely sweats. But since we can’t live our lives in sweats (or can we…) there has got to be an alternative! Enter leggings. A while back we asked on our Facebook page whether or not people would rock a pair of leggings like celebrities do. The overwhelming response was no, but I beg to differ. Here are four ways that I have worn them and continue to wear them. Because it’s comfortable and looks like a put some effort into my outfit. Win-win if you ask me!
1.) Leggings with a dress.
This is a perfect outfit for that dress that might be a tad too short to wear on it’s own. It’s also very comfortable and you look a little fancy, you are wearing a dress after all! It is also perfect for those moms out there with crazy active kids, so you can wear a dress and not worry about it flying up and people getting a peek of your who-ha, as my cousin calls it. This particular outfit is a favorite of mine, I may or may not wear it too much. It was featured a while back in my half-up hair knot tutorial.
2.) Leggings with a Chambray Shirt
Now ladies, I am not thin. I don’t have skinny little thighs. I married a black man, for heavens sake, that just would not have been okay. But when paired with my favorite chambray shirt and long sweater, I think I’m okay. Here I added my Sunshine Stitch scarf and red lips and my boots I paid too much for that didn’t last. Super comfy & with my no heat curls hair – I was ready in less than 15. Yep, the husband likes this one.
3.) Long Fitted Shirt
I love this outfit. Can I say a few important things about wearing leggings? First of all, make sure there are no lumps. You know when maybe your leggings are pulled up high enough and your little muffin top is making an appearance. The best thing about wearing a long shirt like this is you can pull up your leggings (above the muffin top) like Steve Urkel kinda high, and no one will know. And it smooths out any potential lumps! I paired it here with my riding boots and favorite colorful scarf.
4.) With your Husband’s Shirt
Okay am I going a little overboard on this one? Ever since I discovered the ability to shop my husband’s closet, I was hooked. It opened up a whole new world of possibilities! I don’t have a huge budget (if any) for clothes, so this was big for me. I paired my husband’s graphic T with a thick belt, leggings, leg warmers (because I’ve been dying to wear them), and my black booties. I kinda liked it!
There you have it. These are ways that I have found I am able to pull off the leggings. Perfect for this rainy, cool kinda weather that’s been going on. I love it. And now I’m gonna go grab a cup of coffee and my blankets, but before I go I wanted to leave you with some hilariousness that was left in the comments on our Facebook page when we asked about the leggings…

I’m not a fashionista AT ALL.. but tights are not pants!! Christina Aguilera has been wearing them like thats all she has in her closet and ahhhhh I just want to call her up and let her know the truth. Because someone is lying to her about how good she looks! 🙂
Then the always hilarious Alyx from Every Day is a New Adventure made a VERY good point!
Here is the thing – leggings can be pants if a few criteria are met: 1. they are NOT see-through. 2. The person wearing them has a good body. 3. they are NOT see-through. As you can see, it is very important that they are not see-through. No one wants to look at your polka-dot thong, I’m sorry.
Have a Great day!
