Pregnancy Style- Away for the Weekend

No I did not go away on a romantic weekend with my hubby. If I had, this fashion post would look very different (probably including a little more skin!). I went on a wonderful weekend away with my church ladies to learn more about God and to be refreshed physically and spiritually. I however, was asked to be the worship leader for the weekend (which I loved!) but the stress level went up just a smidge. So this style challenge included:

  • 1) Again, dressing modestly yet stylish
  • 2) Dressing my baby bump in non maternity clothes (and dressing stylishly, hopefully)
  • 3) Shopping my own closet for all my looks
  • 4) Comfort was a huge priority for this preggo lady!

Here is what I came up with :

Outfit 1

Jacket- UO, Top- Gap, Shorts- Kohl's, Boots- Steve Madden

I’ll be honest, I did find this shirt at Gap for about $6 and bought it (Rule #3 broken! oh well). It was a teeny bit chilly while at the retreat but not wintery, so I wanted to have some layers. This outfit was super comfy and I was able to walk around quite a bit and stand on stage without killing my feet.

Outfit 2

Top- Anthropologie, Tank-??, Skirt- Kohls, Shoes (unseen) red flats

Honestly, I would have worn this outfit every day if I could have. (I did wear the tank top to sleep in that night :)) It was the perfect choice for running around figuring out sound issues, standing on “stage”, and still feeling cute and comfy.

Outfit 3

Shirt- Thrifted, Belt- UO, Shorts- Kohls, Boots- Steve Madden

Wow! So here, I am clearly exhausted…. lol. Anyways, as you can see I am wearing the same shorts, tights and boots from other outfit that weekend, but the two looks are very different and it totally cut down on my packing! As for the shirt, a few weeks ago I tried to “shop” my husbands closet, I was sad because it really didn’t work. He is a little over a foot taller than me and I ended up looking like I was playing “dress up.” BOO! So I went out and bought a men’s shirt from our local thrift store. It was obviously very boxy and the sleeves were really long, so I belted it above my belly and rolled the sleeves. I loved this because it totally worked with my baby bump. Wearing men’s clothes can totally open up a whole new world of style options! If you want more tips on how to Shop Your Man’s Closet, go check out Natalia’s recent post she did. It was AWESOME!

Finally, I would like to add that all of these ensembles I would absolutely wear even if I was not pregnant. Being pregnant makes finding outfits a little more challenging, but I think each of these outfits are adorable in their own right! Thanks for tuning in! XOXO-Christie
