Shopping Your Man’s Closet

Can I start by saying – sorry boys!

Okay, now that we got that out of the way, ladies let’s chat about how we can steal our man’s clothes, namely shirts, and style them so people will never know!  I am pretty sure this is doable with most ladies.  My husband is ginormous, like in a tall, broad, triple X kinda way and I was able to get a few looks.  So I hope you can get some helpful tips of your own and broaden your wardrobe without spending a penny!  And that, I am sure, the men will love.

This first shirt I went for the biggest I could find.  I think this one was a triple X and long as well.  It worked perfectly as a t-shirt dress!  I cinched it up with a thick belt and distributed the extra material evenly around my waste so it didn’t look awkward and voila!   The reason I didn’t use a skinny belt here is because the shirt was so big it wouldn’t have given enough definition of my waste.  With a larger belt t actually looks like it was meant to be a dress.

I also added some fun, big earrings and red lips for a feminine touch.  It honestly turned out to be a look I loved and actually wore!

The next outfit is a little more classy.  You could wear it to work or even a night out.  I chose purple collared shirt from his closet that was on the smaller end, only double X this time.  But it wasn’t nearly as long and this worked for what I was going for.  I pulled the skirt up to my true waist and tucked it in.  I tied my belt up high and pulled out the shirt a bit.  And there ya have it, cute, classy and ready to go!

I paired this shirt with my pink/purple-ish lipstick and my favorite chunky necklace.  I feel like it added the feminine touch I needed to off set the masculine shirt.  Good thing my husband likes colors – I had a lot to choose from!

For this last outfit I wanted to throw in there a long sleeve shirt.  I must say, this ended up being one of my favorites.  It was comfortable and still cute.  I like the belted version better but it can easily be worn both ways.  Once again, I paired it with the larger belt to add definition.   And the last picture I just tied it in front.  Simple yet effective.

So we’ve created three different outfits, three different looks all from your closet & your man’s.  Anytime you can expand your wardrobe without spending money sounds good to me!

So what do you think?  Would you rock any of these looks?  Have you “borrowed” clothes from your man’s closet before and have some tips to add? We’d love to hear them!

Have a great day!!

I’m thinking that I could probably definitely do this with some of mike’s shirts! He’s huge, too, so it’d probably be a pretty similar look! I love it all!

Guess I won’t be doing this since my husbands clothes are probably tight on me or the perfect fit :)

It might work out better for you because they’d fit better! Give it a try!

Unfortunately, my husband isn’t all that tall, so his shirts wouldn’t be long enough to pull off that first look…though I do love it!  Also love the necklace from the second outfit!

Very creative! Love all the looks! Sadly the only collared shirts in my husband’s closet are his work uniforms and some polos he wears for church! He’s a tshirt guy mainly!

I am thinking about doing a post about that, with regular t-shirts. Just kinda a fun idea!

haha I thought that too, but then I told my husband and he thought it was kinda sexy! So who knows! I guess as long as I don’t do it all the time!

What great looks you got form hubby’s clothes. I love the first look, very fun and reminisant of the grunge look from the 90′s that’s now coming back in style (although has enough time passed for us to revisit that look, it feels like only yesterday I sported that look).

  19. Teresa April 13, 2012 at 12:18 pm #

I love all of these! Super cute and the styling works perfectly. I also love the big chunky necklace in the second look. :)
